  1. Went on a 1 hour ride on my BMX bike yesterday. It's been over a year since my last ride. Moved to a new house, new neighborhood. I'm blind, legally, so finding a place with no people that I might hit is the key. It was rainy yesterday, so I went down to the local basketball court and did circles and figure eights. I'm feeling it in my arms are legs this morning. I'm inspired to learn flatland BMX tricks, but I'm just a beginner and just trying not to fall off for now. :-P

  2. We’re all experiencing genuine reality from our particular dimensional constraint.

Examination of the book Flatland and trying to relate it to architecture.

  3. Feelings about #AI range from the Majority - Sometimes about #AI output vs. Reality is...

#AI talking about 'How hilly it is!' textually but really... it's just #flatland txt output, rhetorically, simple style wise and visually awkward outputs.

  4. Our interdimensional #TTRPG explorers are confused by this. They've never seen an dimension that mixes essentialist and existential entities like that. Maybe they "alien abduct" the PCs. Maybe they experiment on them or test them somehow. I don't know, because I never figured out where to go with that idea, which is why I never used it. Maybe you can figure out the part that I couldn't.

(And make the aliens four-dimensional because going full #Flatland makes it more surreal.)

  5. The flat earthers, do they at least concede that earth is 3D (like a cuboid) or do they think it is 2D like in Abbott's Flatland? 🤔

If the former, there might still be some hope. 🤞

#Flatland is one of the first books I read, somehow. Much like #Dune, it's one of those books I've re-read every decade or so and every time I see another layer of the story. Very-very young me was fascinated by the "living geometry" and dimension-spanning thought-experiments and was disinterested in the social commentary, for example.

  7. This reminds me of the "flatland" concept Ken Wilbur talked about, where the qualitative study of "interiors" is collapsed into an all-consuming quantitative study of "exteriors". For example the various attempts to replace psychology, as a study of the subjective human experience of being conscious agents, with empirical studies of behaviour, brain anatomy, or the measurable aspects of cognition (eg mental rotation).
