  1. Man, the #FlatFire is making national news now.

    But for some good news, it looks like central Oregon is getting much needed rain. Hopefully it helps fire teams a chance to get it under control before it gets any closer to #Sisters.

  4. Drove the 101 to Coos Bay yesterday, large smoke plume east of Pistol River due to firing on the SW flank of the #FlatFire, hope they don't eff it up, it was pretty windy yesterday afternoon.. Chevron closed at Port Orford as the card lock tank sprung a leak so right now there is no gas between Gold Beach & Bandon, 60 miles, Stopped at Ophir for a bit and had lunch at Bullard Beach SP N of Bandon. Bad accident near Langlois. This driving 200 miles to see a doctor is just nuts.

    View by MODIS Terra satellite. The MODIS satellites build a new image of the earth each day. Later in the day the map will open with a white background since the satellite has started to build a new image.

    Infrared flight last night 10:27pm. IR analyst determined 12,756 acres burned and fire made 4 mile run to the west in prior 24 hours. Continued spotting to the west.

  16. #FlatFire at first glance, growth on all fronts, appears to be firing operations on the western flank. I am 30 miles from this fire and my car is covered in ash this morning

  17. July 18 afternoon. #FlatFire SW Oregon.
    The wind has been blowing to the west so some of the MODIS and VIIRS heat detections might be smoke+embers but not actual fire on the ground.

    If there is an infrared flight tonight then I will post an updated map in the morning showing the latest perimeter and acres burned.
