I learned recently in Europe (and I guess, Gen-Z), they use just a #duvet/duvet cover.. no top sheet.

I dunno how I'd feel about that. All my beds do have feather duvets too, but over #wool blankets. In the case of my bed, a wool topper also (and a heated mattress pad).

I use wool even in the summer, just swap #flannel for #tencel sheets. It's crazy how well wool thermoregulates. I think Europeans are missing out on this one.

So it appears like, for the last ~months, my MTU configuration was REALLY wrong

Hinted by the immich longhorn replica not rebuilding, but I also didn't know, the extreme slowness of any service using a db cluster where the master node wasn't in the same region

I had put the slowness on the shoulders of packets hopping a lot between regions, but it turns out, it was just db requests maxing past the configured MTU value, silently dropping

Now that BOTH the wireguard and flannel MTU values are set properly, everything is so damn snappy

This feels like new skin

Morning arrived and Minervie went about a quiet morning routine. Coffee and a light breakfast, but also a good layering of flannel in case this auditor was here to inspect the Gathering Wood.

As dawn fully broke, she felt the disturbance at the gate to the wood. She looked first out the front window and saw the the auditor wasn't alone. Looks like he'd brought a lot of backup.

"What are you doing in here?" the night security guy asked.

Fianna spun round & braced herself against the desk.

"Me? Ah--" Her mouth felt like #flannel & her heart was hammering. One hand brushed the leaf of an African violet with a ribbon round its pot. "I was leaving a plant for the boss," she improvised. "A present."

The security guy looked over her shoulder & saw the violet. "Good idea! He loves those." He waved her--and the thumb drive in her pocket--on out.

Hair update for the curious. While my coils didn't hold up completely through all the flinging around and getting played with; they did sorta slowly reform over a couple of days. And this is the most recent state. Kinda scraggly, but still loaded with sproing. :neofox_angel:

Considering buying some cotton flannel fabric to make some long pyjama bottoms - but one of the sewing patterns I have explicitly states that it should not be made with "cotton flannel fabrics" which apparently ,"burn readily".
