Yuck... this #FirstPrice canned #tuna smells horrible... not spoiled, but very unlike the variety I usually get... quite pungent taste too.
Not chunky either, so it basically dissolves into this pasta dish too.
#BeardGrabber seems to enjoy the dish though, so I guess I'll just have to eat through my disappointment... -

#Hachee, a #Dutch beef and onion stew, is in the #CrockPot Express on slow cooker setting.
It's probably not going to be done in time for dinner, since I stayed up way too late and mistakenly thought I could drag myself out of bed in time, so I might end up switching it to #pressureCooker setting later on. -

Today's food was very simple, but quite filling and tasty:
- peeled a rutabaga and cut it into fairly large chunks
- washed and peeled a couple of rather large carrots, and also cut those into similarly sized chunks
- washed potatoes, and cut them in half, skin-on
- Put all these in my #CrockPot Express #MultiCooker on top of the grate that came with it, and filled it with water just below the top of the grate. Added salt to the veggies, but I think I added too little.
- Closed the lid, set the valve to 'sealed' and turned the Crock-Pot to Steam function for 8-10 minutes (can't quite remember what I set it to).
- Cut a large onion in strips and added it to a small frying pan with a bit of oil, salt, and pepper, and put a lid on top, on medium to low heat while the Crock-Pot was heating up.
- crushed and sliced some garlic and added it to the onions when it was time to turn the heat up.
- once the Crock-Pot was done heating up and switched to steam mode, I cranked up the heat on the onions and removed the lid from the small frying pan. Stirred it every now and then, and added the garlic when they started to brown.
- once the rutabaga, carrots and taters were finished, I drained them, put them in a separate bowl (to not damage the anti-stick coating), and mashed them all together
- mixed in a knob of butter, salt, pepper, thyme. Would've added rosemary too, but I seem to be out of it.
Obviously you don't need a Crock-Pot Express for this. You can just prepare it in a regular steamer, or even just a pan with boiling water.
If I'd remembered in time, I'd probably have first sautéed the onions and garlic in the Crockpot too, and then set them aside for later, or even just had let them melt into the veggies by leaving them in the pot. Next time I'd probably also not drain the liquid, or at least keep it aside so I can add it back into the mash after pounding the veggies together.

Didn't follow a recipe, and yet this might've been one of the best chicken dinners I've made to date...
Chicken breast filets cooked for a long time in an oven bag with roughly chopped onions, a tomato, crushed garlic and paprika, seasoned with salt, white & black pepper, dried crushed onion, curry Masala powder, smoked paprika powder, and coated in sunflower oil.
Then, once it's all been cooked through, I put it in an oven dish with a packet of ginger coconut milk, and more curry powder, and added two plums and two pears, and put it for a while longer back into the oven while I boiled rice and diced sweet potato in salty water. Not quite sure if this counts as a #OnePanDish... I probably could've put the fruits and coconut milk in the oven bag at the same time as the chicken and veggies? Or you could skip the rice and boiled sweet potato. 😅

CW: food (meat), lewd-adjacent?
Been naked cheffing in my kitchen early morning with some discounted lamb meat.
"Oh, like Jamie Oliver?" I hear you think.
Nah, just got out of bed and was about to head into the shower before I thought to myself I should set the meat to cook in time. 😅 Else I'd likely forget again, and it needs a while to roast (and I plan on making a soup with part of it). -

Saw a kilo of discounted smoked #svinekam (pork loin?) in the local supermarket, and decided to spoil myself and #BeardGrabber :)
First heated it through for a while in near-boiling water in its sealed packaging, before transferring the meat to an oven tray and dumping what was left in a jar of apricot jam which was near its expiration date anyway, on top of it.
Spread it out over the hunk of meat and let it roast for a while, turning and basting it with jam that was getting stickier and stickier (to the point I had to add some water to prevent it from burning).
Kiddo and I are munching on half of it now; the rest is still in the oven.
Would've been better with the orange marmalade I had originally planned, before finding out I never replaced the jar I used up or tossed out a while ago... but still worthwhile! -

For today's #dinner I made #Dutch #meatballs from (almost ¹) scratch.
Contrary to the #SwedishMeatballs that are more common here in #Norway, they are quite a bit bigger; about the size of a tennisball I think? #Kjøttkaker might come close, but those also don't tend to be as spherical, and the spices used are quite a bit different.
Made these by mixing 250 grammes of pork mince and an about equal amount of beef mince, adding finely crumbled #kavringer (instead of the #beschuit I would've used in the #Netherlands), pepper, salt, smoked paprika, thyme, leftover slow-cooked onion, freshly sliced raw onion, roasted garlic and an egg. Let it stand for an hour or so to let the aromas of the spices and herbs seep in, before rolling balls from it.
Seared them in vegetable oil before adding butter and more onions and garlic. Once the onions were nice and golden, I added chopped tomatoes, and eventually some ketjap manis and water.
Served it with boiled potatoes from our share of the potato harvest at the #ecoGarden we're member of, #BØB, and a jar of red cabbage I heated up with some finely chopped apple.
The final dish might not have been plated nicely or looked appealing, but to me it tasted like my childhood home. <3
And @Siiw seemed to enjoy it too. :D¹ almost from scratch, since the minced pork and beef meat came from the supermarket, rather than having ground it myself. I did mix the pork and beef myself in a 1/1 ratio.

#Pancake batter is saturating in the fridge.
Didn't want to make any noise in the kitchen since the missus is feeling a bit under the weather, so I mixed all the ingredients in the container with a fork.
Note to self: add the eggs a bit earlier, because it's harder to mix them in when the flour is already wet from the oat milk. -

Spent quite some time, probably close to 2 hours?, on preparing and cooking #dinner earlier today, but I think it was worth it. :)
Cleaned and sliced a bunch of #carrots that we (mostly @Siiw <3) have grown ourselves, as well as a pink, an orange and a plain red #beetroot, red #paprika / #bellpepper, some #garlic and a large #onion. Fried them in batches in a pan alternating between medium-high and low heat.
