Top: Brook trout
Bottom: Brown trout
Both are wild and juvenile. In general, the colors of spots of Brook trout are lighter than the background, while spots of Brown trout are darker than the background.

I found a couple of images from my fishing trips - Top: Brook trout; Bottom: Brown trout. Both are juvenile 😊
Unfortunately, I could not find an image of a juvenile rainbow...The colors of spots of Brook trout are lighter than the background, while spots of Brown trout are darker than the background.

Are there any fish experts out there? I've been a fish keeper for fifty years but am not an expert. The fish I carefully observed for a good thirty seconds in a local water hole/creek was similar to this, only bigger, I'd say 25cm to 30cm plus. Maybe a Blue Mountains Perch?
