  1. We did a favorite road bike ride yesterday.

The map shows the 26 mile round trip road bike route from Fisherman’s Wharf in Monterey CA to Pebble Beach and back. Most of the ride is along the coast. As usual, it was overcast with a light wind. One gets used to overcast and wind when riding pretty much anywhere within Santa Cruz and Monterey along the bay.

Fisherman’s Wharf is a good place to start since there is usually plenty of parking and the parking rate is reasonable.

The Lone Cypress is a mile or two up 17 Mile Drive between the bottom 180 turn on the map and the Pebble Beach resort, our turn-around point.

  2. Alioto’s at Night

Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco, California, 2010Samsung NX100 An early photograph from 2010, captured during a vacation to San Francisco and rendered in black and white to emphasize the dramatic interplay of light and shadow. Shot with the Samsung NX100, this image focuses on the iconic Alioto's restaurant at night—its glowing neon fish and illuminated tower standing as unmistakable beacons along the historic waterfront. The composition captures the lively, bustling atmosphere of […]

  3. Alioto’s on Fishermans Wharf

Alioto’s, Fisherman’s Wharf, San FranciscoPhotograph taken during a visit to San Francisco. In post-processing, I chose to remove color to strip away visual distraction and draw attention to the atmosphere of the scene. The image emphasizes the contrast between darkness and illumination—the glow of neon signage, the rhythm of passing figures, and the movement of people through the night toward the restaurants and storefronts. The monochrome treatment was intended to heighten the […]

  4. #DJT trolls #California by issuing #TruthSocial post disguised as brain fart #ExecutiveOrder to reopeni obsolete #Alcatraz prison on island in #SanFrancisco Bay , which was abandoned for its use as a prison as impractical after three decades of service back in the early 1960s.

Site famously occupied by #NativeAmerican protesters in early 70s and many still hold sunrise #Thanksgiving ceremonies on the island, before abandoned bldgs were turned into a #NationalPark that opened in 1974.

The rocky island has since become a major tourist attraction, hosting over a million visitors a year who arrive via officially chartered ferry boats sent from #FishermansWharf . So far local govt officials with many tourists surveyed awaiting to board are not amused by bleat of #Presidential bluster fuggery.

  5. Discover the vibrant street food scene at Fisherman's Wharf in SF! 🌊 Indulge in clam chowder served in sourdough bread bowls, savor fresh Dungeness crab, or enjoy a classic shrimp cocktail. This iconic spot offers a delightful mix of flavors, perfect for foodies exploring San Francisco. 6. The Crab Fleet

The crab fleet of Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. Behind the restaurants off of Jefferson Street is the pier where the crab fleet docks. Most folks don't even walk back here, they just walk down the street looking for cheap trinkets and some fresh crab.
Back here behind the restaurants and the gift shop are where the boats dock after a long days work.

  7. Fishing Boats at Fisherman's Wharf

The colorful boats are part of the fleet of boats that bring fresh seafood to San Francisco's world-renowned Fisherman's Wharf.
Jefferson Street is the street where most of the shops are. But if you go behind the restaurants and walk along the bay you will see these boats docked as long as they are not out fishing.

  9. Another from last night... I used the Google 7's Panorama mode, which I don't use a lot because its default stitching mode is Spherical, which tends to distort shapes. In this case, however, its effects look to be minimal.

  10. Taking a late walk, I decided to hop an F to Fisherman's Wharf, where it was as empty as I'd expected (and hoped)...
