Article Three of the Constitution states, that "The Judges, both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behaviour,...", which is strangely enough interpreted to mean *lifetime* tenure, going back to 18th-century customs in England.
Anyway, taking behavior as behavior is commonly understood in the 21st century, I'm not the least convinced, that Leonard Leo's obstructive, reactionary Supreme-Court-six are holding their offices in good behavior.
In fact they're most visible & clear proof, that the idealistic concept of ensuring judicial independence through lifetime tenures has crashingly failed & continues to fail the American people, whose Rule of Law the judiciary is bound to serve.https://newrepublic.com/post/174042/defeat-federalist-society-take-back-supreme-court
