I hope Intelligent Systems will go back to 3d models for character portraits in Fire Emblem after Fortune's Weave.
I especially liked how every character in Engage had their unique idle pose/animation.

Thinking about my Fire Emblem tier list again, either Engage belongs to a tier above S or Conquest to A because the former definitely deserves its own tier.
Personally, its average map is a lot better than Conquest's while also adding great additions to FE like updated boss design or break on weapon triangle advantage.
It's still crazy how Engage added more positive additions to the FE gameplay than Three Houses and the 3DS era combined.

I was thinking about my favorite and least favorite characterizations of the Emblem rings in Engage:
Favorite: Byleth. I just like their calmness and retroactively preferred if they actually talked in Three Houses too.
Least: Micaiah. In Radiant Dawn she's a really interesting character who is often morally gray but in Engage she's just bland.

Micaiah's characterization in Engage makes it look like she's all innocent like Eirika and Celica when in reality she is absolutely not.
She is way more similar to Edelgard.

I'd be really surprised if we ever get a new Fire Emblem that can beat Engage in terms of gameplay.
Engage has pretty much perfect Fire Emblem gameplay.
Of course technically one can beat Engage by having better maps but that is hard when the quality of the average Engage map is so high.

It was interesting to find out online that Pannette is one of the best units in Engage because in my first playthrough I just benched her because her hit rate was bad when she joins.

About giving everyone in Engage the Canter skill (which allows units to move after actions):
Technically I'd say not every unit needs it but most do, so the few outliers that don't have it will feel like complete garbage units to me so I have to give them that too.

And I hope they finally increase the highest zoom-out level in the next Fire Emblem like it was during the 3ds games.
The most you can zoom out in Three Houses and Engage is just pathetic in comparison and so often annoying.

I haven't made a top 10 Fire Emblem bosses ranking yet but I already know that all of the entries would be from Engage and I'm only counting the main bosses of a chapter.
Other titles would only get included starting in a top 15 ranking (and the first non Engage boss would be Conquest final boss).
That's how big of a deal Engage was for boss fights.

I'm very optimistic of future Fire Emblem and Xenoblade (X) games during the Switch 2 era especially in terms of gameplay when looking at Fire Emblem Engage and Xenoblade 3.
They would need to do a complete 180 to ruin them.

Unless Intelligent Systems does an 180 in terms of boss design after Engage, I think the legacy of Engage will be that it finally made boss fights not bad anymore.

One thing Engage does very well is bosses.
Heretofore, bosses have almost always been normal enemies with stats and equipment that are a little better. Engage gives them all multiple health bars and Emblem abilities, which get more numerous and powerful as you wear them down; some also have directed area-of-effect attacks. This all means that the bosses actually present a challenge and require tactice and coördination to defeat.
