  1. @alfredtwu thanks for the article on housing laws changing in 2025

Is AB2243 height limit of 35 ft on narrower roads related to Fire Code, particularly Appendix D, which requires 26ft streets near tall unsprinklered buildings? Sprinklered depends upon local fire marshal.
Appendix D is not adopted in California, though many local jurisdictions adopt it.
Of course, new tall buildings are sprinklered, so it wouldn't matter if D were adopted.

My obsession with Fire Code and #VisionZero wants to know

We're making charges in the #FireCode in #Oakland
My Fire Code doc is below.
Oakland Fire Department is working with #OakDOT to combine safe streets with requirements to set up ladders near highrises without automatic sprinklers
Sprinklered buildings don't need 26 feet clearance
SF removed 26 feet requirements years ago

Let's find a way to allow OFD to save lives, but not risk lives of pedestrians and cyclists
The Fire Code is coming back to BPAC, the Bicyclist and Pedestrian Advisory Commission

  6. @marcprecipice
For the past 8 months, I have been working to change #Oakland #FireCode to allow narrower streets
Oakland Fire Chief Freeman has agreed in principle to some of the changed, but we're still working on details.
@oaklandside article below, with links to some details I have written.
