I am considering moving off this instance to one that is more stable and smaller. I was considering an Iceshrimp instance. What are the benefits/differences of Iceshrimp vs Sharkey and Misskey? One benefit I've heard is that Iceshrimp is more stable and less bloated... is this true? Any guidance is appreciated!

One thing, though, we need to consider doing is a project for instance-finding that is available OUTSIDE the #fediverse. Tags like #findaninstance and #mastohelper are internal, we need a website we can point our friends to that will walk them through the #instance choice and direct them to an appropriate home.
Instance finding is simply too stressful, especially for newcomers who don't know how things work. It scares people off and while I'm not up to becoming the biggest thing on the internet I would like my friends from other sites to be able to get here. -

It appears that @[email protected] has been thinking about whether large - and harder to moderate - servers are even a good idea for the #Fediverse.
The last thing you should take from the closure home.social is that you should just move to mastodon.social to avoid being on a server that closes, or is too big to fail, or be defederated. I think that all bets will soon be off and there's going to be some large realignments in instances, in clients, and in federation when #Meta et al arrive.
Now if you're looking for a small (currently ~290), well-moderated instance with a strong queer vibe then perhaps #blahajzone might be a good fit? Why not talk to some of us here and find out?

@Clementine ive been considering Blahaj.zone which is a Calckey instance. Its run by 2 transfems, is small (~90 users), and mastodon api support is coming soon. Because of the last part though, I'm sticking to mastodon.lol until that api is made.

#fediverse question: Does #instance size matter? I know I have to #migrate from #MastodonLol and plan to but I'm pretty stuck up on where to go. There are some smaller instances that I really like but I'm afraid that I might struggle for interactions due to the small size. There are also bigger instances I'm also looking at but I really like #calckey over #mastodon and the big ones are typically #masto. Any #advice is appreciated! :_gaysparkle: :blobcattrans:
