There is a another facet of Australian Defence. The ADF is a pains to recruit enough personnel to operate its current inventory, with the Navy being the worst hit. Increasing the number of platforms required crewing the ADF does not have and find hard to fill despite recruitment drives. Unless at war (a legal and moral war) Aussies don’t generally enlist.And then there is the question of domestic capacity to maintain, repair and overhaul platforms in service. Adelaide and Sterling shipyards are still in the planning/building phase. Buying foreign ships is just the tip of a logistic iceberg. I would expect #Journalists to know this.
The #FinancialReview is peddling #populism and an anti-Labor agenda.
