I had a hearty laugh at this comment (in retrospect, it's not that funny, but at that moment, after the castle was left in ruins, I found it hilarious). Talking to NPCs in Final Fantasy V is a lot of fun. Some are sassy, some are quirky, and some give you good advice (unless, due to mistranslation, you keep looking for Gold Needles mentioned by an NPC, while they call it Soft in shops 🤦♀️).

I'm currently playing through #FinalFantasyV as a "Four Job Fiesta" run.
If you don't know, #FourJobFiesta is a challenge run where the FJF website gives you four random jobs, and you can only use these through the entire run.
My four jobs are:
- Black Mage
- Time Mage
- Ninja
- Chemistwhich has left me thirsting for healing, but pretty good for damage. It's really forcing me to think about how to equip my party (99 hi-potions please!)
A real fun way to play!

In 2022 during our trip to Aruba, I started #FinalFantasyV Now, 3 years later while visiting Curaçao, I’ve picked up that save file and finally #JustBeatIt Feels good to get this #FinalFantasy entry off the ol’ backlog. Not talked about nearly enough. Job Systems FTW! @polykillpodcast.bsky.social

I can now put another #FinalFantasy game to the list of games I finished. I just made it through #FinalFantasyV 😸

I love how the game plays with gender even though it’s from the early 90s. So many cool characters 😺
So where to go next? I have strong vibes for #FinalFantasyIV and #FinalFantasyVI but I’m not sure which one to pick 🤔

Finished up the Library of Ancients, reunited a family, and helped Galuf through a flashback. Took a moment to backtrack to Walse Castle and picked up Shiva for my summoner (easy-peasy with Ifrit and 3 Black Mages). Then headed across the ocean to Crescent Island, lost my ship, gained a new chocobo and FINALLY could turn Galuf into a Ranger (caught off his guard?). Tomorrow to the desert!

Made it through the Fire Ship without too many problems, altho I kept getting greedy trying to damage the boss at the wrong times. 😅
And my Fire Crystal job is.... Ranger! ....which I can't get until a while from now. 😔
Mosey'd down to the Library of Ancients and got Ifrit for my Summoner, and will handle the main boss tomorrow.

Got past the Tower of Water (Thanks @JTO_is_Typing !) and my second job is.... Summoner! Well, at least that gives me a little healing. 😛 Spent the evening leveling up a touch and getting all the up to date gear and spells. Tomorrow, to the Fire Ship!

Well, got past the North Mountain with no problems, but the boss of the Tower of Water hits like a truck even when you're on the back row, and starts counterattacking everything, and can't be put to Sleep. Will have to back up a save and grind a few levels, I guess. -

I like #FinalFantasyV. The story is lighthearted and moves at a fine pace. Mechanics are interesting without being overwhelming. I played it 15 years ago, but never finished. Perhaps now is the time.
