Just saw Mickey 17. Have to let the movie sink in a bit before developing a concrete opinion of it, but my first impressions are mixed. Wonderful in so many ways, questionable in others. #cinemastodon #filmstadon

My review of "The Night of the Hunter." It's just completely creepy. 👀 #filmstadon #film #filmfan

Day 18 of #31daysofhalloween. Campfire Tales (1997) is a fairly decent anthology horror featuring (among others) a young James Marsden. If you've seen any film of this type before then you'll know where the "main" story is going but the sections are interesting enough.

#31daysofhalloween day 16 and She Came From The Woods (2022). 80s set summer camp horror has fun moments but ends up taking its silly story far too seriously.

Day 14 of #31daysofhalloween and back to space with Alien 3. Not the complete abomination its often painted as but a considerable drop off from its predecessors. It's all a bit flat and dour but the cast really sell the fear and you get Charles Dance.

#jokerfolieadeux sees #joaquinphoenix and #ladygaga have a prison meet cute, sing some songs and make everyone happy. Right?

#31daysofhalloween day twelve and The Disappointments Room could refer to whatever room you watch this film in. Standard "are there ghosts or is the silly women losing her mind?" plot backed up by boring scare attempts that always turn out to just be a dream anyway.

#31daysofhalloween day 11 and post apocalyptic Nic Cage movie Arcadian. Surprisingly good with interesting monster design bit slightly held back by the fact one of the teen boys is annoying as hell.

Day 9 of #31daysofhalloween and more turn of the century nonsense with 13 Ghosts (2001). Ridiculous set up, Mathew Llillard manicness, goofy ghosts and mid twenties Shannon Elizabeth as the teenage daughter. Love it.

#31nightsofhorror #film #movies #filmstadon #horror

#31daysofhalloween day 7 and Natasha Henstridge, Ice Cube and Jason Statham battle demonic spores and wonky sets in Ghosts of Mars. Nothing is particularly high quality and it's certainly lesser Carpenter but there's something lovable about the ridiculousness of it all.

#31daysofhalloween day 6 and a return to space with #Aliens. This time it's Vietnam with aliens and iconic catchphrases. Does the more of the same on a bigger scale thing better than just about any other follow up and preemptively rendered all other Alien sequals superfluous. Little kid is annoying though.

#31daysofhalloween day 3 and #apartment7a. You'd think that anyone trying something as audacious as a prequel to #rosemarysbaby would have to have a belter of an idea up their sleeve but this is really just a rerun with the volume turned down. Good central performance but needed much more to justify its existence.

#31daysofhalloween day 2 takes us to space with Ridley's all-time classic #Alien. Some effects have ages better than others but the design remains unparalleled and there's an argument to be made that it introduces us to both cinemas most iconic monster and greatest final girl.

My little corner of Mastodon is quiet tonight, so let’s chat.

I have never seen Hocus Pocus even though I love Halloween.

Which famous films have you never seen even though they’d probably be right up your alley?

Turns out #Trap is not the long awaited #AdmiralAckbar biopic but the new #m.nightshyamalan thriller where a naughty #joshhartnett tries to escape the law during a concert.

Tonight my spouse and I are rewatching Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.

The ents remain my favourite race in that universe. I’d watch a film or read a book only about them if such a thing existed.

The thought of intelligent trees who can walk and talk fascinates me and is a wonderful distraction.

I loved Moana and am curious to see what the sequel will be like. Who else is looking forward to it? The trailer for it is a good one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDZ7y8RP5HE

Can #ryanreynolds make it to the #MCU? Can he stop the #Fox universe from being erased? Maybe if him and #HughJackman can stop stabbing each other and play nice with all cameos.

My spouse is watching Fast X tonight.

My prediction is that these characters are going to break all of the laws of physics yet again. 😄

(The dialogue is funny, though.)
