Just caught two amazing new films this weekend! "A Real Pain" with Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin as mismatched cousins on an emotional journey through Poland, and Mike Leigh's latest "Hard Truths" - a powerful look at family relationships with his signature mix of fierce compassion and dark humor. Both absolutely worth your time! 🎬 #Movies #FilmRecommendations

Hard Truths: https://youtu.be/gFuEZfZUKIk?si=9orFrO8uctmklPnu

I watched this amazing film again a few weeks ago. I liked it even more than the first time!

I'm trying to make the most of quiet afternoons with the littlest by watching Christmas films

But it turns out a lot of them I don't actually like (eg Love Actually)

So tell me, what are your must watch Christmas movies that I should be searching out, otherwise I will just be watching Muppets Christmas Carol on repeat (as it is the greatest Christmas film ever made)

#FilmRecommendations, number 5 of 5. The Wonder (Sebastian Lelio, 2022). This one is on Netflix. Florence Pugh is a no-nonsense English nurse brought into an Irish village to watch over a little girl who has 'miraculously' given up eating... Incidentally, this entire thread brought to you by 'There are no good films being made any more. It's all superheroes now.' No. That's #Hollywood. There are always good films being made. Cast your net wider, oh cynical ones. #film #cinema #Letterboxd

#FilmRecommendations, number 4 of 5. Hit the Road (Panah Panahi, 2021). Debut feature from this director. A chaotic Iranian family are driving towards the border. Why? Well, the little boy doesn't know, so I'm not going to tell you. Funny, poignant.

#FilmRecommendations, number 3 of a now ambitious feeling 5. Happening (Audrey Diwan, 2021). 1960s. Unwanted pregnancy. Abortion illegal in France. Sadly a rather timely drama, and one that plays as straight as an arrow. Suitably Intense and no fat on it.

#FilmRecommendations, number 2 of 5. Playground (Laura Wandel, 2021). Belgian schools look brutal, man. Drama told from the perspective of the child, in which Wandel literally keeps the camera at child's head height. Urgent, claustrophobic, quite short (70 minutes) and really rather good. #films #Letterboxd

I watch a lot of #films. Today, I am going to make five #recommendations for things I've seen recently that I think more people should watch. I am going to use the hashtag #FilmRecommendations. It would be great if some other people did the same thing. But no pressure... First up, The Innocents (Eskil Vogt, 2021), a terrific Norwegian psychological #horror that's a little bit Carrie, a little bit X-Men and maybe even a little We Need To Talk About Kevin.
