  1. Where do you look for inspiration? For me finding events like Banff Mountain Film Festival or all the ski & snowboard movie tours coming out this time of year. I grew up on original Warren Miller films, where you paid like $10 to get in and got like $50-100 in free ski resort vouchers. We came for the mountain stoke, ski vouchers and seeing the movie was just a bonus part of the experience. I think we might've lost annual snowboard movies but the ski movie tours & adventure film festivals seem to still be going strong. Caught MountainFilm on Tour last night with the Seattle Mountaineers. A lot of great & inspiring short films shown reflecting on some emotionally powerful experiences in the outdoors. Really enjoyed them all but the one that stood out to me was "My Grandmas Sketchbook." A story of a grandson seeking out his grandmas sketches around Mt Blanc in 1989 and visually recognizing how much the glaciers have changed since then. Choked me up emotionally seeing how much these beautiful mountain places have changed. Film can be such a powerful medium, a deeply emotional way to connect and inspire others in a positive direction or gain a new perspective. A good inspiring adventure film can really hit me in the feels. Have you seen any good inspiring videos or films lately?

  2. Is #FilmFriday about #Movies or Photography? Either way, my #LastFourWatched made for a good week:

Day of the Outlaw - 3.5/5, bleak but thought-provoking

EPiC - 4/5, say what you want about Elvis, he was a dynamic entertainer

Harvie Krumpet - 4.5/5, brilliant! Trying to track down Adam Elliot's other work

Tangerines - 4.5/5, ordinary people struggling under wartime conditions

    Happy viewing!

  3. Keeping the Hoop coming this #FilmFriday 🎃 My #LastFourWatched were a lame thriller, a blueprint of what to come, now thát's what I call horror!, and an elegant noir bathing in colour gels.

  4. Hooptober hoops on, also this #FilmFriday. Three favourites this week, a nice break from the mediocre swamp I (temporarily?) was stuck in.

Mani Kaul's hauntingly beautiful ghost romance दुविधा [Duvidha] (1973) is a gem.
이어도 [Ieoh Island] (1977) went places! I cannot get over the melodrama in Korean cinema, otherwise this would've been a 4/5.
Psyched by the 4D Witch (A Tale of Demonology) (1973). Whooo boy! Ugly people having ugly sex accompanied by Holst's Planets while a bitch witch watches.

  14. For Film Friday, a photo of an old family friend. She sits on a hill catching the end of the day's light. What she is watching is anyone's guess. No notes on the shot, probably a Nikon and Fujichrome of some sort. #FilmFriday #35mmfilmphotography #gooddog

The foreground is a bit of a distraction, but for some reason, I like how it pulls my eye, and relflection of the clouds mesmerizes me. Poygan State Wildlife Area, Wisconsin.
