🗣 The film is in English with German subtitles.The documentary ‘To Kill a War Machine’ offers an intense insight into an activist group's direct struggle against the British war industry and its arms companies.
Through bodycam footage and mobile phone videos, it shows occupations and sabotage actions aimed at drawing attention to the links between the British arms sector and the genocide in Gaza.
After several acts of civil disobedience, the group successfully achieved the closure of Elbyt Systems' production facilities and brought about the termination of business relationships with its suppliers.
Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to discuss the film over delicious food in exchange for a donation.
We especially invite students from Berlin's universities to watch this film with us!

It's slowly getting colder and we're getting ready for the second part of our silent film series ‘Nights of Silence’.
We continue with a classic of expressionist horror silent film:
✋ Orlac's Hands (1924, directed by Robert Wiene)
Pianist Paul Orlac loses his hands in an accident and receives those of an executed murderer.
The fear that they could influence his will drives him increasingly into despair.
Director Robert Wiene, known for The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, combines psychological drama with elements of horror in Orlac's Hands.
With Conrad Veidt in the lead role, the film is considered an early example of the motif of loss of identity in cinema.

Der Pianist Paul Orlac verliert bei einem Unfall seine Hände und erhält die eines hingerichteten Mörders.
Die Angst, diese könnten seinen Willen beeinflussen, treibt ihn zunehmend in die Verzweiflung.
Regisseur Robert Wiene, bekannt durch Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari, verbindet in Orlac’s Hände psychologisches Drama mit Elementen des Horrors.
Mit Conrad Veidt in der Hauptrolle gilt der Film als frühes Beispiel für das Motiv des Identitätsverlusts im Kino.

The film documents the life of Syrian director and journalist Waad al-Kateab during the civil war in Aleppo.

But we lack collective knowledge when it comes to infiltration as a method of state repression. What are the different types of possible infiltration? How to defend ourselves against more sophisticated attacks on our movement? How to be aware on the one hand, but keep the trust between ourselves, on the other hand?
We will show the documentary ‚Infiltrats‘ (2025), which reveals the mistakes some infiltrating cops in Spain made, which were key to exposing them. It addresses the impact of these infiltrations on the collectives and individuals who were spied on.
We invite you to our talk and discussion and we will share materials on the topic.

‘Out of nowhere’
Fatih Akin's feature film is based on the right-wing extremist NSU attacks in 2004 and tells the story of the victims' relatives.
The film focuses on the time after the neo-Nazi attack and the question of how (and whether) justice can be achieved.
Right-wing networks and, not least, the justice system of the Federal Republic of Germany stand in the way.
Afterwards, we would like to talk and discuss the film with you politically.
