Q: I run Ubuntu 25.10 and use filen.io to mount a cloud service to sync files between computers (limited to a specific folder). But it doesn't work to autostart it as it is out of sandbox - is there any way to go around that limitation? It has worked before and I trus filen.io so I have no issues to use some kind of fix to cirkumvent the settings for that specific app. #linux #question #ubuntu #filenio

Does not look good for a Linux client in 2026 (and going by their track record in 2027 either).
Still by far the most requested feature - after almost 4 years - in their own tracker for #protondrive https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/932839-proton-drive/suggestions/45271456-linux-client
The convenience of #protonmail would be nice if they did not effectively hold 6TB visionary space hostage from their Linux users.
Thinking about switching - would even save money.

Hab mir https://filen.io mal angeschaut, Desktop-App ist super und Synchronisation sehr gut konfigurierbar. 🌟👍🏻 Notiz-App mobile ist nur ziemlich umständlich von UX her, Abzüge in B-Note. ;) Sonst sehr vielversprechend, auch vom Pricing.
Über die Leute dahinter (UG in Deutschland) lässt sich leider wenig herausfinden, das erhöht nicht unbedingt den Trust. Auch Security-Audit steht noch aus. 🤷♂️ Lifetime-Abo ist aktuell pausiert.

Filen.io has appearently "military-grade encryption"?
Jokes aside. Siriously, Filen. Every scammy company use this buzzword to create false-expections abt a product aka. is basically very missleading. Scammy companies love to use such words, so, I don't think or atleast hope that you're a scammy company @filen, why then are you using such "strategies" to advertise your product, siriously? I won't use the public link feature until you changed it, or may even switch away. Is just a No Go. Honesty should be the prioraty if you want to create trust between you and your users, and this is definitly not the right way.
