Fuck me. Have I lost anything else? Can I trust Filen with my files? Why the fuck can't things just work as advertised? I don't even know if it was my OS, Filen, or Obsidian that deleted the files. 😭

I appear to have lost all of my Obsidian notes about my CRPG's quests and game systems. The folders are empty.
They were stored in Filen, so I had them excluded from my backups. 😭

1. Backup in ein lokales Verzeichnis oder auf externe Platte (ArqBackup)
2. Sync auf lokales NAS mit RAID 1
3. Dezentrales Backup auf Cloudserver. Gerade noch pCloud, überlege aber Wechsel zu Filen oder auf meine selfhosted Nextcloud.Läuft zuverlässig und tatsächlich ohne große Skripterei.

Po wielu dniach testowania i szukania kompromisów – w końcu mam konfigurację, z którą żyję na co dzień. Staram się łączyć FOSS z realiami iOS. Nazywam to „pragmatycznym puryzmem”.

Als Extra-Cloud nutze ich zusätzlich #Filen (https://filen.io/) und habe für einmalig 30€ 110GB Speicherplatz gekauft, was mir völlig ausreicht, um z.B. aktuelle Illu-Jobs als Backup in der Cloud zu haben.
Die Einmalzahlungs-Option scheint aber nicht immer verfügbar zu sein. -

Hmpf, DNS4EU blockt aktuell @filen als "malicious malware" 🙄
Falls Ihr wie ich beide Services verwendet und merkwürdige Sync-Fehler habt, wisst Ihr, woran das gerade liegt.
Ich habe bei beiden Anbietern bereits ein Ticket erstellt...
EDIT: Filen hat geantwortet: Sie sind offenbar auch von anderen DNS-Diensten wie QUAD9 geblockt. Man arbeite an einer Lösung...

@inthehands i just started playing with #filen for my desktop backups. really similar ux to dropbox, e2e encrypted, european corp and servers. i'm trying to get my non-technologist hubby onto it.
(i use syncthing for syncs and borg for server backups)

Da qualche giorno sto cercando qualcosa con cui sostituire Google Drive.
Mi servono pochi GB di spazio di archiviazione e la possibilità di editare file online.
Qui sotto i risultati delle mie ricerche.
#Proton: mi sono fatto un account, ho caricato un file esportato da Google Drive, sia come .ods che come .xlsx, ma quando cerco di aprirlo da Proton Drive (tramite il suo Proton Sheets) mi dà un messaggio di errore. Ho creato un file Excel (.xlsx) sul mio PC ma anche con lui quando cerco di aprirlo mi dà un messaggio di errore. Ho caricato un file di puro testo ASCI e anche con lui dà errore. L'unico modo che ho trovato per aprire un file su Proton Drive è crearlo direttamente lì dentro. Non è quello che cerco quindi ho cancellato l'utente. Dopo un po' mi è arrivata una mail della loro newsletter, volevo disiscrivermi e lì ho scoperto che per disiscriverti devi avere un account (ti chiede la password per poterti rimuovere dalla newsletter) quindi avendo già cancellato il mio non posso più disiscrivermi. Non mi sembra un comportamento corretto (comunque, ho bloccato il mittente e amen).
#CryptPad (istanza CryptPad.fr). Ho provato a creare un utente per tre giorni di fila, in tutti e tre i giorni prima mi è comparso il messaggio "Hashing della tua password in corso. L'operazione potrebbe richiedere qualche istante" e poi "Si è verificato un errore inaspettato 🙁" (sì, con faccina triste). Non riesco neanche a creare un utente ergo non fa per me.
#Internxt: non mi permette di caricare nessun file (i caricamenti falliscono tutti). Probabilmente per un'impostazione del firewall dietro cui mi trovo. Non va bene.
#Filen: online possono essere editati solo file di testo, non fa per me.
#Infomaniak: per poter fare un account che mi permettesse di accedere a kSuite (il prodotto che contiene poi al suo interno anche kDrive) ho dovuto dargli la mia mail, e vabbè... Poi da kSuite devi abilitare i vari prodotti che ti interessano e per poter abilitare kDrive va dato anche il numero di telefono. Non puoi darne uno falso perché controlla che sia il tuo. Francamente mi sembra troppo dover dare anche il numero di telefono (e poi solo per vedere come funziona...) quindi ho rinunciato e ho deciso di cancellare l'account. E lì mi sono accorto che per cancellare l'account bisogna cercare parecchio nelle varie pagine prima di trovare il pulsante giusto (ma forse sono io che sono un po' tardo su queste cose).
Insomma... si fa un bel dire "cercare alternative a Google" ma alla fine non è così semplice.
Mi sa che mi terrò stretta la mia istanza personale di #Nextcloud per un altro po'...

Ho creato un file Excel (.xlsx) sul mio PC ma anche con lui quando cerco di aprirlo mi dà un messaggio di errore. Ho caricato un file di puro testo ASCI e anche con lui dà errore. L'unico modo che ho trovato per aprire un file su Proton Drive è crearlo direttamente lì dentro. Non è quello che cerco quindi ho cancellato l'utente. Dopo un po' mi è arrivata una mail della loro newsletter, volevo disiscrivermi e lì ho scoperto che per disiscriverti devi avere un account (ti chiede la password per poterti rimuovere dalla newsletter) quindi avendo già cancellato il mio non posso più disiscrivermi. Non mi sembra un comportamento corretto (comunque, ho bloccato il mittente e amen).
#CryptPad (istanza CryptPad.fr). Ho provato a creare un utente per tre giorni di fila, in tutti e tre i giorni prima mi è comparso il messaggio "Hashing della tua password in corso. L'operazione potrebbe richiedere qualche istante" e poi "Si è verificato un errore inaspettato 🙁" (sì, con faccina triste). Non riesco neanche a creare un utente ergo non fa per me.
#Internxt: non mi permette di caricare nessun file (i caricamenti falliscono tutti). Probabilmente per un'impostazione del firewall dietro cui mi trovo. Non va bene.
#Filen: online possono essere editati solo file di testo, non fa per me.
#Infomaniak: per poter fare un account che mi permettesse di accedere a kSuite (il prodotto che contiene poi al suo interno anche kDrive) ho dovuto dargli la mia mail, e vabbè... Poi da kSuite devi abilitare i vari prodotti che ti interessano e per poter abilitare kDrive va dato anche il numero di telefono. Non puoi darne uno falso perché controlla che sia il tuo. Francamente mi sembra troppo dover dare anche il numero di telefono (e poi solo per vedere come funziona...) quindi ho rinunciato e ho deciso di cancellare l'account. E lì mi sono accorto che per cancellare l'account bisogna cercare parecchio nelle varie pagine prima di trovare il pulsante giusto (ma forse sono io che sono un po' tardo su queste cose).
Insomma... si fa un bel dire "cercare alternative a Google" ma alla fine non è così semplice.
Mi sa che mi terrò stretta la mia istanza personale di #Nextcloud per un altro po'...
