@stroobl @repo in buurdorp Eppegem was het fietspad zodanig slecht, dat ze de fietsers op straat laten rijden. Nu vliegen de auto's voorbij op het slechte fietspad #fietsstraat

That symbol is NOT a #sharrow. It’s a #FietsStraat or bike priority street where cars are allowed but are “invited guests” that must behave well by following slowly behind (and not crowding) bikes. Seen here on my tour with #Ghent, Belgium clients in 2019, but they’re also common in the Netherlands.

Wat zie je?

We would learn, that the sign „#Fietsstraat“ is not an official sign by law but is used widely and respected by motorists. So people actually do not overtake. This I find very interessesting, since quite a few Gernan motorists would overtake cyclists even if the German signs would officially prohibit the overtaking by law. We call it #Überholzwang - the feeling to be forced to overtake cyclists.
