Somehow managed to record and edit the next episode of our start to finish #neurofunk series before I had to leave for #FieldDay2023 - now off to see #AphexTwin!!

Finally starting to feel good after Field Day. It's always such a physical drain on me and I always take off work the following Monday just to recover.

This year I bought a tent and air mattress so I could get some better rest instead of putting the passenger seat in my car all the way back and "sleeping" there. That helped a lot, but still wasn't quite enough. My problem is I haul so much stuff out there like a 13' x 13' canopy, plastic folding table, a few chairs, radios, vertical antenna and surveyors tripod to mount that on, 100' of coax, lighting (although I reduced that this year), food and drinks, etc., etc. It's quite a major effort for me. For the past several years I've tried to cut down to just the essentials, but when you're getting things together, you think everything is essential.

While I’m bummed I can’t travel cross country to join #NARS (NR7WL) at their field day site, I am planning on participating as 1D EPA and then submitting my scores to be consolidated with the club score👍

I should also be able to convince one or two of my kids to make a contact for the youth participation bonus, but I’ll probably be on the air mostly during the overnight shift when all the littlest ones are asleep.

Went out for a site survey this afternoon at our Field Day site. We usually use a park in town, but this year one of our members donated a chunk of his ten acre ranch for us to set up. I'm fairly excited about it because it's about 40 minutes outside of town, so it'll be super quiet with no QRM. Our previous site was surrounded by housing and apartment buildings.
