Start with 1, 1, and keep adding the last two: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34... Draw each as a square, thread a quarter-circle arc through them, and you get a logarithmic spiral — the same curve that turns up in sunflower seed-heads, pinecones, and the growth of shells.
