Bell Canada says there is an ongoing outage of Fibe internet service at my address (since 6 am yesterday apparently) yet here am online via wifi. Has never gone down as far as I can tell.

Recently, Bell FibreOp (Fibe) stopped responding to unicast DHCP renewals. So the WAN DHCP client would try (unicast) renewals over and over, sometimes 20 times, before considering the server dead and switching to broadcast. Usually, that broadcast reply would return before the lease expired but bit of a race condition.
Thus, random momentary internet drops, as often as 20 min. between (Bells dhcp lease time).
Annoying, but I have now fixed!

@dutchkimble @schizoidman Likely true. It may be justifiable in a commercial setting but in a home? Just how many HD streams would you need to run to suck up that much bandwidth?
I get regular calls from my ISP to upgrade to a 1.5GB package (we have #Fibe in this neighborhood). No thanks - the 150Mb I'm paying for is more than enough (but then, our kids have moved out so perhaps I'm not a typical household).
