  1. It is weird to have a Malboro pop up in a battle and NOT be the worst thing ever. I think the later Final Fantasies traumatised me with this monster (it doesn't really do much in FF2, but I seriously tensed up when I saw it for the first time).

  6. On the topic of #FF2 , let's give the #TYFTG track of the week to Alek again! Uplifting while showing hidden depth, Sunfire never wastes a second and lights the torch for anyone lost in the dark.

  10. After a tough week, my brain needed some simple RPG grinding to recover. I went for Final Fantasy II Pixel Remaster, a game I had somehow missed the first time around. I love levelling up each weapon and spell separately, and I don't know why this didn't catch on.

  13. I've got some hours into #ff3j now (#NES), and I can say a few things about it.

Auto-retargeting is game changing and awesome. #ff2j didn't have that, super annoying.

The "change jobs for a gimmicky thing" (starting with mini) mechanic is kinda bullshit. Lazy design.

No matter what the guides say, you have to grind out levels. It's not bad though.

I guess we were all learning our way, so I can forgive. Sadly, the story is not as compelling to me as ff2j.

I know ff4 is epic, and I finished it as #SNES #ff2, but I'm doing the translated Super Famicom version when I finish this and really looking forward to the progression.

  18. Something occurred to me about #FF2 ( final fantasy 2 on the original nes ):

It feels like I'm playing Skyrim.

I know, that's a strange statement, but FF2 allows you to customize your character however you wish ( without levels ) and you become god like almost instantly. Similarly, Skyrim offers the ability to customize any path you want to take and you also become god like pretty quickly.

    FF2 was released 1988
    Skyrim was released 2011
