Family is out of town this week and finally playing Final Fantasy 16 after work. I am still early on, Clive just accepted Ifrit and we are off to the first mother crystal.
Taking my time and doing all the side quests as I go.

okay, after 13.5 hours of playing this game, my further thoughts: once you get out of those first few hours, the pacing is much better. the events keep coming, but at a less exhausting pace. the voice acting is still amazing, Jill is A+++, Cidolfus Telamon is AAA+, and Torgul is, was, and ever shall be Goodest Boy. #FF16

okay, almost 5 hours in, here's what i think so far: a) someone who designed this game was in love with quicktime events. b) this game simply does not stop. i had to force myself to put it down because one thing is constantly leading to another and it is kind of exhausting but Very Cool. i feel like i've played an entire game already. c) the dialogue is sometimes Very Good and occasionally Kinda Cringe, but the VAs are giving 110% and that makes it all better. #FF16

CW: FF16進捗メモ 終盤（ちょっとネタバレ）
いよいよ最後のクエストを受注するというタイミングで大量のサブクエが湧いたので、サブクエとモブハントやってからメイン進めますｗ
バルナバス、母親に執着してるのはララァに母親になってもらいたかったシャアみたいなものなのかな……（例えよ）
子供時代のフラッシュバックでもいいから、もうちょい執着につながるトリガーとなる場面の描写ほしかったな……このゲーム、バルナバスの母親の設定（部族間の争いで落命した）とかまさにそうだけど、ハルポクラテスの備忘録でしか説明されてないこと結構多くて、「それを！ゲーム内で！描写して！」という気持ち。
カットシーンは長いけどロアをカバーしきれてなくて備忘録頼みなので、全体的に厚みは感じるのになぞってるお話が薄めに感じてしまう。アクション不得意ながらアクションフォーカスでやって、サブクエ・モブハンもして、いくつかのボス戦で数回リトライしていて総プレイ時間は70時間ほど。
ラストダンジョン・ラストバトル手前で90時間とか私には普通なので、もうちょっと盛り込んでもいい気がしてる。

#FF16 #ffxvi ティ戦（ちょっとぼかし）直後のとっても大事なカットシーンでどう設定変えてもクラッシュするポイントがある :blobcatangel3:
調査の結果、どうもRadeonの問題らしく、AMD Software Adrenaline EditionからはDLできないVer. 24.20.11.01をWebからDLしてインストしたら無事解決した！！
バトル自体も15分ぐらいあるのにバトル直後にオートセーブされないという謎仕様で、ティは5回ぐらい倒したし、直後のエモーショナルなカットシーンも5回ぐらい観ました…つらい :ablobcatcryalot:

While my main machine is out of action, I'm afflicted by an obscure mesa bug affecting games that implement shader compilation.
It might be limited to Intel Arc A770s, but this is the sole anecdote I can find anywhere else on the internet of the same thing: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/issues/10880
I'll only be without my main machine until the x870 boards launch next week, but man, it sure is painful missing both #FinalFantasy16 and #GodOfWarRagnarok this week.
