#feroniarum — Public Fediverse posts

In my #SEM #photos, the #mouthparts of the #mite #Histiostoma sp. (Histiostoma #feroniarum complex), found on #rotting #lemons in southern #Italy (Sorrento), look like menacing #aliens. In reality, however, they are merely #fungusfeeders that often prefer a side of #bacterial emulsion as a "sauce" (Wirth, 2024).
