  1. The #Whittlesey #StrawBear is a quaint yet somewhat #pagan custom in a small town near where I live, in which a man and a boy dress up in straw costumes and parade through the streets, accompanied by various #Morris and #Molly dancers, and a few thousand slightly drunken onlookers.

On Sunday the bears are ceremonially burned, in a vaguely #WickerMan-ish way, though I'm told they let the occupants out first.

  3. Another #FlyingAntDay, and this time, some of them actually have wings.

  4. It's starting to look a lot like #FlyingAntDay - but none of the queens have any wings. I wonder if the weather came a bit too soon for them?

I do see a few winged males, though, so I'm sure they'll be crawling around in my hair soon enough.

  5. "Is this your local?"

"Yes, I come here all the time."

No, you don't. You really don't.

How do I know this? Because I _do_ come here all the time, even on some of the other 51 weekends of the year.
