Thomann komt in actie tegen Fender, die grote en kleine fabrikanten en verkopers dreigt met claims. Zelf schrijft Thomann:

"Fender heeft onlangs [...] een zogenoemd verstekvonnis verkregen tegen een Chinese handelsmaatschappij die S-style gitaren verkoopt. Dit vonnis is uitsluitend gebaseerd op het niet naleven van formele procestermijnen en vormt naar onze mening geen inhoudelijke beoordeling van de juridische merites van de zaak. Op basis hiervan probeert Fender nu een principiële auteursrechtelijke aanspraak op de bodyvorm van de Stratocaster af te dwingen, terwijl het gelijktijdig optreedt tegen Europese dealers en fabrikanten."
