  1. And now for something completely different, but also not!

You're allowed to like what you like, but you also might want to think about *why* you like it, once in a while.
Don't gotta write essays if you don't want to or show anyone else, just be aware of your own thoughts.

  2. who are cis people? What is a cis man? What makes a man cis? What makes a man trans?

(in case anyone wants to misrepresent any of this video or my posting of it -- no one is or should be disposable. Even if you don't like them.
I might say otherwise in my own personal experiences with a handful of people who have behaved unconscionably towrd me, but that's neither my ideal nor what I think would bring a better world.
Even less so on demographic grounds. Like, I understand if Person A abuses you, yeah you will be experiencing a range of emotions -- or shutdown, or cycle through them. But that's individual, not systemic. anyway.)

Obvious one we should all be able to agree on tho: posturing based on attacking others is not "real" gender. It's just insecurity getting defensive at other people.

  3. FASCINATING bit of #research here into #gender stereotyping & #socialmedia use:

    emerald.com/insight/content/do

So much to unpack. The socially constructed ideas of #gender, #masculinity and #manliness. The concept of #Femmephobia which does so much damage to so many people.

The lingering ideological construct of what makes one gender one thing, and another gender another thing lingers on.

I'm not surprised. I am sad.

And also curious, given that a former US President basically lived on socials - I'd love to know how the research participants rated him on "manliness" scale...
    (Urgh).

  4. Why is fashion considered unserious, but sports taken seriously?

One queer feminist philosopher, Carol Hay, is working on breaking free of her #femmephobia.

In our society, femininity and things associated with females (like #Barbie) are consistently given lower value than things men traditionally like.

"I’m coming around to the recognition that performances of femininity can exist for purposes other than snagging a man."

And she links this issue to #transphobia
