  1. davidslack.net/what-a-phoney/ - praises recent #solar-power-subsidising, but with qualifications

One of the commenters says: '...My stock response to the Tory taunts of Labour "free stuff" is who pays for the #coalition's corporate welfare to the #tobacco industry (excise rebates for heated tobacco products), the #oil refinery owners (Marsden #diesel storage expansion), critical minerals #mining (funding from the Regional #Infrastructure Fund), #farming (primary sector growth fund), #landlords (mortgage interest tax relief) etc?'

Apart from the solar good news, David Slack goes on to berate the #PM, no less.

'So much of what I have written about this mediocre PM of vaulting self-regard has had to end with: What a phoney.

'Up he goes this week to Whangārei to tell 300 people I don't have to work for a living I'm just really into being your mediocre PM. And he's brought with him all the stock Monty Burns lines about them high and mighty bureaucrats in the Capital.

' "I love getting in and out of Wellington as quickly as possible and getting out and about and meeting with people because from the front line you actually hear the opportunities and also the challenges that exist."

    'and

' "We're not mandating it from Wellington. We believe in localism. We believe in devolution. You make your decisions. That's a conversation you and your community need to have."

'Yeah good one Old Mate Grabaseat. Why don't you tell us how you let Auckland decide about its fuel tax?

'He's the Faux Outsider making empty promises of Faux Devolution. .....'

Another commenter takes up the PM's "We're not mandating it from Wellington. We believe in localism. We believe in devolution."
'That explains the school lunch atrocity, then. And the forced local body amalgamations. And telling us we can't put our medication packets in the recycling even when our local council is perfectly happy with them. Phoney is too kind... '

(#Feilding has special collection bins for medical blister packs.)

  5. rnz.co.nz/news/business/561582 I've forgotten how much butter cost me a few weeks ago at The #Warehouse, but the #Feilding store is dramatically #competitive even with PakNSave in some parts of its #grocery section.

  11. 20th anniversary: (Then mayor, later MP) "#McKelvie remembers a full-on week, and credits the #Labour-led government at the time for a swift response." Woman remembers #cow that swam her to safety during #floods rnz.co.nz/national/programmes/

(I didn't live in #Feilding then but there's a great photo of the town centre.)
