I switched from #Fedora Kinoite to #NixOS. While I see immutable distributions as a great benefit for regular users, as a power user and developer I need a lot of command-line tools that can't be provided via Flatpak. Distrobox works great for that most of the time, but some tools need special tweaking to run inside a container. Now my whole system is defined declaratively. As an added bonus, the system now runs faster b/c cmds don't execute from containers anymore.

Rpm-ostree støtta ikje dkms, så æ rebasa tel #bazzite, kor zfs e innbakt. Gjekk veldig bra!
Æ kuka tel nån symbol-lenka når æ konverterte tel zfs, men d va en forholdsvis ez fix.

I have come across an interesting bug/feature (?) with #FedoraKinoite.

For whatever reason, whenever I am at university, a bunch of Apple devices have started to populate my list of sound output devices and then, eventually, the sound server crashes. I have not manually connected to them via Bluetooth or any other means and it didn't happen last semester.

Does anyone know why this is happening or how I can debug this?

For those of us running an immutable build such as #fedorakinoite and having trouble both installing new themes and getting them to even load. (I found instructions that enabled the former, but not the latter and this fixed it fully.)

anyone else having issues with multi-monitor setups since 6.3?

I have three laptops, running Plasma 6.3 (on #openSUSE #Tumbleweed, #FedoraKinoite) or 6.1 (#NixOS).
I have a display connected via DisplayPort and another one daisy-chained to that. As soon as I power on the daisy chained one, both 6.3 laptops only show a black screen. I can always switch to a console and reboot from there, but the graphical session is no longer usable. Sometimes I can revive them by undocking or disconnecting the display.

6.1 on NixOS seems unaffected...

Llevo un tiempo con #Fedora #Kinoite en mi ordenador de mesa y por ahora no tengo mucho inconveniente con esta distro inmutable más allá de que rpm-ostree no me deja (o no encuentro la manera de) instalar paquetes rpm a los que les falta alguna dependencia necesaria (como el del DNI electrónico, que pide pinentry-gtk2 a pesar de estar deprecado en Fedora 40). En #rpm basta con un --nodeps, pero aquí no parece funcionar.

Sigo un poco mosca porque Fedora es de Red Hat, y Red Hat ahora es de IBM, y por lo que me cuentan, se ha enmierdado un poquito por ello. Tendré que tener el ojo puesto por si tengo que pegar otro salto.

Aún sigo probando diferentes distros y flavors. De las principales me faltan #Debian y #OpenSuse. Quiero experimentar también con #AlpineLinux, que es Linux casi puro (ya he instalado entorno de escritorio a base de terminal).

Fwupd, please... If you keep trying to write to a directory that contains no EFI files, no wonder the update will ALWAYS fail...

If anyone else is running #FedoraSilverblue (and quite possibly #FedoraKinoite ) and wondering why the UEFI revogation list updates keep silently failing using the Software app, or with a "failed to write data to efivarfs: Error writing to file descriptor: Invalid argument" error when doing it manually, try adding "OverrideESPMountPoint=/boot/efi/EFI/fedora" to /etc/fwupd/fwupd.conf.

A reboot may or may not be necessary after this step.

I believe fwupd might be trying to write to /boot/efi, which has exactly zero relevant information for it to write to, or for the OS to get, since it actually boots from deeper on that folder tree.

That had been bugging me for MONTHS O_o

there's a driver I need for #LinuxGaming purposes that isn't packaged anywhere, I don't want to rebuild it from source every week, and #FedoraKinoite doesn't support dkms, but I can't figure out how to do it or find any helpful resources, it's always one of three things: nvidia specific, some post somewhere with no replies, or some post somewhere with replies but still unsolved after months or years
