Question for the Fediverse:
I'm in need of new prescription eyeglasses.
For the last few decades I've been wearing verifocal lenses, which are costly.
My vision issues are slight myopia and significant astigmatism.
My question: To save money, could it be practical to get two pairs, I.e., one pair for distance, and a second pair for reading?
The assumption I'm making is that I could have both acceptable vision and also save money this way.
I suspect that I'm being impractal rather than practical, but I'd love to have that confirmed or refuted by someone who is knowledgeable.
Thank YOU.

Help me Obi-Wan Fediverse:
I've discovered that by using my Android devices through a VPN address in an EU nation -- even though I reside in the Untied Snakes -- a lot of Google enshittification gets eliminated. (For example: Preventing YouTube links from working in DuckDuckPlayer.)
Now, pleez tell me that there is an Android OS that will work on a pre-2023 Motorola Moto G Power and a Samsung Tab A9+ tablet so that I can be done with this troublesome Google once and for all.
Greatly appreciate any guidance from the Fediverse hive mind.

CW: Contains First World Rant
Not that anyone noticed, but I have been off the Fediverse for a week.
My lovely wife and I moved house, and I lost access to the internets.
I carefully scheduled installation of new internet service at the new address so that it would be operational when we moved in.
On Installation Day, a technician called to inform me that a neighbor had parked his vehicle in the easement over the internet provider's buried equipment -- rendering it inaccessible.
Apparently the miscreant has done this before.
Now, the soonest the broadband provider can return for an install is February 6.
The worst part of this story is that I had to upgrade my $5.00 per month cell phone service to a $25.00 per month plan in order to get WiFi.
As a "very frugal person," this really chaps my hide.
Also, I can't figure out how to enable hotspot service on my 5-year-old Motorola Moto G Power mobile phone.
(The mobile company's service person told me that this phone can do hotspot tethering. But the toggle for hotspot is grayed out.)
Fediverse Hive Mind, do you have a solution?
