Die Speicherauslastung unserer Instanz geht stetig zurück, seitdem wir dank der Hilfe der Community das Problem identifizieren konnten: Crawler durchqueren über unsere öffentlichen Feeds jeden Thread samt Antworten, den sie in die Finger kriegen, und rufen hierfür alle Medieninhalte über den Media Proxy unserer Instanz ab. Diese Medien werden dann bei uns (für einen von uns konfigurierten Zeitraum) lokal gecached und führten zum Volllaufen der Festplatte. Seitdem wir den öffentlichen Feed für anonyme Zugriffe deaktiviert sowie die maximalen anonymen Zugriffe pro 10 Minuten auf dem Media Proxy stark limitiert haben, ist unsere Speicherauslastung auf fast die Hälfte zurückgegangen (und ist weiterhin am Sinken).

Gut drei Stunden war die #WueSocial-Instanz nicht zu erreichen. Eine Stunde davon wegen angekündigter (und von mir nicht kommunizierter, sorry! 🙈) Wartungsarbeiten von Hetzer an Netzwerk-Komponenten. Und zwei weitere, weil das wohl nicht so geklappt hat, wie geplant.

Aber jetzt läuft es wieder, ältere Posts trudeln jetzt nach und nach ein und aus.

Kennt jemand https://fedica.com/ ? Uns wurde berichtet, dass diese App nicht mehr als 500 Zeichen bei Mastodon erlaubt. Hat jemand einen Kniff bereit oder Kontakt zu den Entwickler.innen? Ich frage für einen unserer Kundinnen auf https://bewegung.social

Jedoch scheint damit das Iceshrimp UI nicht richtig zu laden. Also der Feed und die Benachrichtigungen laden nicht richtig.

Bei der #WueSocial-Instanz habe ich jetzt eine weitere #Backup-Ebene installiert. Jetzt werden nicht nur jede Nacht der Dump der Postgres-Datenbank und die .evn.production auf einem eigenen Volume auf dem vServer gesichert, sondern nun noch zusätzlich auf eine externe Storagebox.

Aktuell wären im worst case aber die Medien verloren. Das sind zwischen 50 und 80 Gigabyte. Soll ich die auch jede Nacht in die Storagebox schubsen?

Da ist noch Luft nach oben. Ich bleibe dran.

I have to delete at least one spam user almost every day, even though I only process the registration via our SSO service #Authentik.

After a lot of trial and error, I finally got object storage configured for this instance. I had originally planned to use Backblaze, but ended up going with Linode Object Storage. Unfortunately, the guides I found online didn't work for me, and I also had to make the switch from Caddy to Nginx. I'm thinking about writing a blog post to share my experience.
