I think it's important to call people out — bonus points for doing so in a constructive manner — but it's even more important to protect your peace of mind and sanity; to be able to participate without fearing... harm, effectively.
Offering readers / viewers ban lists, etc. — I haven't been on X in ages, but I can't imagine it's changed much — is _not_ the same thing _at all_.

Also ich wollte nochmal sagen, ich finde das sehr schön hier - im Fediverse - auf Mastodon - mit euch... Das wir hier so zusammengefunden haben ohne die Algorithmies... und dass Menschen sowas tolles in ihrer Freizeit erschaffen haben - fernab von Macht- und Geldgier. Danke!
Und auch wenn wir uns hier darüber aufregen wie alles so ist in der Welt, ist es doch schön, dass wir hier beisammen sind und es irgendwie so eine stille Solidarität gibt und den Glauben an das Gute.

Ich hatte mir die Tage vorgenommen jeden #digitalIndependenceDay auszunutzen, um eine kleine Sache zu ändern und mit euren tollen Tipps läuft es schneller als gedacht. 🥰

Disclaimer: I find it a little tacky to talk about metrics on the Fediverse. That is NOT why I am here.
BUT! It's worth saying out loud that I found a real community here that I am immensely grateful for.
The lack of algorithms - a mysterious black box determining which posts get seen - is a big bonus to me...
I spend hours writing articles... that people now REALLY read (unlike on Big Tech platforms, where my blog posts would be seen by 3-4 people because... god forbid you include a link to an external site. And that includes Bluesky, too).
Thank you for making me feel seen and heard and valued here ❤️
Ghost v.6 has new metrics built in... I was shocked to see the number of visitors to my first post about YunoHost: 955!
So even if I find it tacky to discuss numbers, this is not to brag. My main intention is to dispel any myths about Big Tech platforms... writers and creatives often say that they HAVE to be on X or Instagram or TikTok because that's where their audience is. Well, all Big Tech platforms have finicky, mysterious algorithms. I was on Twitter for 14+ years and none of my links ever got 955 visitors in 12 hours. So I wanted to put this out here to say:
ANOTHER WAY IS POSSIBLE.
And it's even better than the old way.
Real community. Real engagement. Without surveillance capitalism.
What's not to love about this?

There is an absolute art to changing the CW text in an ongoing thread, and it gives me great joy to be in conversation with people who do this skillfully or read their replies elsewhere.
It's one of the niche delights of the Fediverse for me.

Das Fediverse als Single-Plattform, sehr schön. 🤩 Ein bisschen wie früher, das Schwarze Brett oder in Zeitungen die Anzeigen. -
Das ist vielleicht ein komisches Gefühl, dass der Herr F nun auch hier ist. Da, wo alles angefangen hat. Eigentlich ist er ja ein alter Fediverse-Hase, aber durch den neuen Account dann auch wieder nicht. Fühlt sich an, als wenn ich mit nem neuen Typen zum ersten Mal in die Dorfkneipe gehe.
