I think I need to dedicate some time to setup my own #Fediinstance as the character limit here on #chaossocial always is kinda annoying (and a lot of users on other instances hate chain posts to the point that they block you for it).
@ordnung I think I already asked that at some point, but we can't just increase the character limit on here, right?

Sad to see Southampton.Social to go but we still have App.Southampton.Social using Sharkey...
We will be seeing how that runs for a while and if it doesn't take up any traction in so many months we might have to re-evaluate running costs for it sadly.

Do you mean like consciously noticing and #celebrating the day you joined Fedi? We can see that as a nice thing and maybe an opportunity to think about supporting one's #fediInstance.If you mean algorithmic reminders of toots made years ago. We say leave that stuff on the #dotcons, whose business model is consuming ppls time and energy.
Finding older toots is what #hashtags are for.

If one doesn't have the skills to setup a #fediInstance, don't run an instance. Especially don't entrust CloudFlare to set it all up, and then to effectively have them #spying on you and your friends.We will be blocking the official CloudFlare instance (cloudflare.social) at the first opportunity, and in all seriousness it ought be 'a thing'.

Quite right. Currently #searchEngines don't respect #TheRightToBeForgotten and its just a shame actually.Legacy search engines also are good at 'picking and choosing' what they will return. So if you want a more complete #search, you *may* be better off #searching from a #fediInstance
Yes, DM (PM) and 'Do not post to public timeline' are both possible.

The admin of that #FediInstance appears to have gone silent. We continue to wait for responses. We're advised the admin understands and has published in english.
Let's hope any confusion and theft is remedied soon and #MitiGator can continue the fight against the #Cloudflare (+ other) #MITMAttacks.

The job of a #fediInstance host is to exercise best judgement with the info they have.The ability to speak info, today manifestly access to #theInternet is therefore paramount — a fundamental #humanRight, and why we are dogged in our efforts to bring justice to those persecuting JulianAssange.
Attempts by #Amazon to create and #corporateClosedInternet in #AmazonSidewalk must be completely decimated.

When ppl ask, "Why is the #FediInstance I'm on blocked by your instance", you can point to the list of CAGFAM servers and suddenly people have a valuable resource that they can use to reclaim some semblance of #digitalSoveriegnty.
