OK all my #electronics / #PCB fab #FediFrens 👋 I need [1] to get a custom #keypad designed & fabbed and I’m starting from a low low base of “sure I’ve put built plenty of electronics kits & learned a bit of electronics theory but mostly a long time ago & I haven’t designed anything myself”… 🙃

so what’s the best way to get started? 🤔

I found a couple of places that do custom #keyboards & have online key[board|pad] design tools, which seems about right. I don’t actually want to become an expert in custom PCB / #keyboard design, PCB fabbing, or managing Shenzhen supply chains – I just want to get this one thing made [2] and am happy [3] to exchange money for goods & services (within reason) to get it done

I’ve already looked at just using a gaming keypad to do the thing but I really want to integrate the keypad into the other thing to get it to where I want it to be…
 
 
OK, there’s no need to be coy I guess – I want to put a “real” keypad into my 1:1 #3Dprinted #Apollo #DSKY (WIP pic below)

what’s my optimal pathway to getting this to exist? I imagine that other DSKY nerds may want one once it exists, so the ability to turn it into a limited run after the initial prototypes are done would be a bonus

This isn’t an easy time right now, this post election, name-calling, finger-pointing, confusing, disillusioning, disappointing time. I’m finding the convos and chats I’ve had here on the #Fediverse have been incredibly helpful. Even the prickly, seething, pissed-off stuff. I hope we can keep this going, because it’s better here, mostly kinder, smarter, more thoughtful, and funnier than anyplace else out there. The end ♥️😻 #fediFrens #fedi #Mastodon #wtf

The buzz of them could be heard from the shore. There was no time. We ran into the citadel and shut the sliding metal doors and stuffed perspex covid-dividers at the gap under the door.

Would it be enough?

Then the red insects could be seen from behind the covid divider. They could not see us. A person wearing the same colour red shoes stepped up to the door too. We waited forever in a moment. They all left in union.

All our #fediFrens would be safe from the #Nov2022s.

I'm spending a lot of time checking out folks' profiles cause I'm just blown away by all the cool people I've been able to interact with on the #fediverse. Y'all are pretty fuckin great actually #FridayFeels (I know it's not friday yet, idgaf i think that hashtag is kinda neat; starting a thing (lol also slightly bummed to learn it was not born of my brain and has def been used 😅)) #FediFrens
