  1. Fedified.com is giving me a fail elephant. Anyone know of this is still a thing?

  3. What. The. Fuck.
    Your service is called
#Fedified and your headline is "Discover Mastodon" ?!?!?!?

    For fuck's sake!

Mastodon is not the fucking fediverse!

    Jesus H. Christ.

  5. Why are there so many projects with "Fedi" in its name, that only work with or are designed for #Mastodon? I think that's a bit confusing and misleading to be honest.
    #Fedifetcher (Script) #Fedified (Website) #FediAct (Addon) etc. #Fediverse

  7. If you make a tool for #fediverse - please, stop with this insane #USdefaultism.

You can make it english-only, it's not much of an issue, but don't ignore everyone outside of the US. If you have multiple options related to individual US cities, but have none for #EU or countries like China, India, Egypt, Germany, etc... it comes off as extremely ignorant. And that's before we start talking about everything else than just geographic locations alone.

    Looking at you #fedified.

  9. Question for Mastodon gurus: Is there a secret to getting a backlink to my profile to work such that it turns "verified" green *in addition to* adding "rel=me"? I followed instructions, adding it from my WordPress site, but it doesn't show up here. I know this feature works fine on my instance (sfba.social) because #Fedified did it already! (See screen shot.)

The only theory I can come up with is that something is blocking it from my WP host end. Any ideas? Thanks. #FediTips #FediHelp

  11. hey @daveleeFT & presscheck dot org , if you’re going to run a centralized verification system a la #fedified , and you want people to trust in you, i think you need to publish more information about your verification process.

  12. Curious:
In order to verify my account through Fedified, I had to hop back on the bird site ... and just noticed that I still have my blue checkmark. Am I being charged somehow, or has that not entirely rolled out yet?

  13. New by me at Forbes today: a guide to getting 'Twitter verified' at Mastodon. Includes options for linking Twitter and Mastodon accounts, linking 'legacy blue' Twitter accounts, and more. I couldn't cover everything, so be kind - this is for a general audience, those who might be exploring Mastodon and want to know more about account verification in easy to digest terms.

  15. A hot take is brewing inside my brain on he clash of the worlds surrounding the #fedified. I've read thru some of the posts, which argued this kind of verification is actually great or evil thing, and it appeared, that I have Opinions.

This post, though, is not quite a teaser, more like an attempt to shame myself into collect the notes on the matter from my chats and make some kind of a post, if not quite an essay, on the matter.

  16. There has to be a way better way of verifying #Mastodon users than a centralized spreadsheet like #Fedified is anyone working on a better solution?

  18. @juddlegum @Pawstalker Check out #fedified and fedified.com. They have put together verified list of journalists and other notable accounts on Mastodon.

  19. I am looking at @DataDrivenMD's #Verified by the #Fediverse #Fedified criteria - And I am somewhat confused by why we are basically bringing Twitter verification one-for-one over here.

I don't want to berate the effort; and I understand that it's valuable - But there are MANY reasons some people didn't want to be #Twitter verified which might not count on #Mastodon

  20. @DataDrivenMD Nice verification tool. I've been wondering what this #Fedified thing is about. #TwitterMigration

  21. I just saw the #fedified mess pop up in my tl, what a silly mess that is. And it looks like people are falling for it.

  22. There is a heated debate on Mastodon around the #fedified verification list. Some objections revolve around eligibility criteria for inclusion in the list. To be on the list one has to either be previously twitter verified OR have 100k+ followers OR have 20k+ followers AND have the followers:following ratio at least 11:1. I checked how well the existing 500+ persons on the list satisfy these conditions. In short, not well.

  23. Would like to see a GitHub-like ActivityPub project. Should we all be self-hosting or group-hosting our own source code instead of letting GitHub do it?

Maybe what I'm saying is ActivityPub integration patches should be submitted to Gitea, Gogs, GitBucket, Gitlab, GNU Savannah, etc... 🤔 #ActivityPub #federation #fedified

  24. Nice #PressCheck initiative from @daveleeFT to verify journalists to help with #TwitterMigration

    presscheck.org

One of many good account verification initiatives for sure, like journa@host by @adamdavidson or #ConradsList #Fedified

This is starting to feel like a place with critical mass in no time at all!

  25. @stirz
    @DavidBFox @DataDrivenMD

I would strongly recommend NOT using #fedified for verification. A lot of Mastodon users are actually using the “fedified” list as a blocklist, because the use of this kind of services encourages behavior that is contrary to the #Fediverse ethos.

Highly recommended alternative is to use the native Mastodon verification feature directly.

  26. @revkin @adamdavidson Actually, a site like @DataDrivenMD #Fedified could host a little bio page for everyone on the list with the right codes, then I think you ought to be able to get a Mastodon-standard green verification check mark on your profile
