@evan hello! I believe the Fediverse has already connected people in meaningful ways (me for example to global friends like @MamaLake and local friends like @renudist who I wouldn’t have met if not for being on the Open Web)! 🌸
I do also believe we are all individually and collectively making a more just, equitable, non-judgmental, and sustainable world, reminiscent of #FediCon2025 and still deeply grateful for the connections made there 😊 -

When online, my goal is to connect and converse. Follower numbers don't matter to me. People are more than numbers; they are individuals with rich stories. I focus on coherence and resonance.
I connect deeply with aligned people, whether online privately or IRL if you happen to visit or are in Vancouver.

#FediCollective was founded after we had #fedicon2025 here in Vancouver because IRL people also mentioned wanting community ala Fediverse Club. Today builders and creatives are meeting to discuss ideas and projects for the Open Web ❤️
Just really excited the LGBTQIA2 and BIPOC gaming community want to be involved 🌈

On September 18, I also posted "Facts Over Feelings: Stop Waiting. Start Building" on LinkedIn to be transparent about who are the pivotal folx I've met IRL at #FediCon2025 that are helping on- and offline for the co-creation of the kind of #DWeb #OpenWeb we like.

Building vs. Complaining on the Social Web
Last week, saw someone post about what's wrong with the Fediverse vibe & decentralized social media for LGBT folx. I'm in the tech.lgbt server since 2023. It's not vibes as the issue, it's lack of action. Instead of pointing out the wrongs, do what's helpful.Here's what I've learned from actually building community here
✅ We've created real IRL #ThirdSpace meetups in Vancouver directly after #FediCon2025 via #FediCollective & #PeerTube coop
✅ Connected BIPOC & LGBTQ+ creators across platforms
✅ Built supportive spaces for wellness & grief recovery
✅ Fostered genuine relationships that extend beyond screensThe vibe of any space is what we collectively create. Instead of waiting for someone else to fix the problems we see, be the change you want to see.

It’s a #thirdspace called #FediCollective inspired by my experience and what I learned from you all at #FediCon2025 🔥
For now, it’s monthly (face to face) over coffee but I hope to find some co-organizing help for a global/ online-only membership version. This way folx can remotely participate in #EthicalAI discussions and solutions ❤️
