Hi Fedi, I need some #advice:
I'm looking for an open-source, self-hosted #eDMS (Electronic Document Management System), with the following features:
- Files stored on disk
- Tags management
- Ability to add custom stamps on PDFs (ex: "Paid on <date>")My use case is the following: I want to leverage the organization features of an eDMS, sync my documents to my Nextcloud instance, and when accessing invoices (read-only) from another computer (or my phone), being able to see at a glance when it was paid (along with other info I might think relevant), hence the stamping feature.
Docspell seems to store everything in a DB, so external access is hard.
Paperless-ngx seems bent on not modifying the PDFs, so no stamping feature, while advertising that they store the modified PDFs along the original one, so I'm a bit lost here.
If there are plugins or tutos on how one might achieve that, I'm open to that too. Using paperless-ngx and manually stamping through external tools is still an option, but it adds friction which I'd want to avoid (bookkeeping is hard enough for me already).
Boosts/renote/retoot/etc. are very welcome! If you don't know, maybe you know someone who knows :-) !

I'm thinking that my next cellphone might be a Fairphone. I've generally tried to shop wisely for phones, and mostly I've been quite successful. They generally last me at least five years each, often a year or two longer.
I go with as close to vanilla Android as much as possible, with high RAM and good specs - never top-tier phones, but solid mid-range phones. I don't buy from Samsung, because I have no interest in having crapware foisted on me or helping a corporation violate my privacy.
My current phone is a OnePlus 6T, which is still running solidly after nearly seven years. But Carl Pei left OnePlus some time ago, and OnePlus has apparently gone downhill as a result.
The Fairphone sounds appealing, but I'm concerned that I might have to switch carriers. Meanwhile my son is pulling for a Pixel; I'd rather avoid doing business directly with Google because they're so fucking evil.
So...suggestions? Thoughts?

Bon, les fédinautes de tout poil, À votre avis, quand on veut lancer sa boîte de nos jours, qu’est-ce qu’il faut faire de l’écriture inclusive?
Perso, je vois ça comme une avancée, je ne trouve pas ça particulièrement compliqué à lire, et il me semble que c’est une façon de faire plus respectueuse que le masculin à tous les étages en guise de neutre.
Cela dit (ouh, c’est pas bon signe, ça), si je souhaite me lancer dans le monde du service à la personne (et éventuellement aux assoces ou PME), est-ce que je dois aller au bout de mes convictions et utiliser l’écriture inclusive dans ce qui me servira de vitrine sur internet?
J’aurais tendance à penser que oui, parce que d’abord mort aux cons, mais c’est vrai que je vis peut-être dans ma petite bulle progressiste et tolérante sans avoir bien conscience du côté borné de la population générale.
Bref, des avis sur la question?

Je n’utilise que des logiciels libres à la maison, et m’efforce, à ma petite échelle et avec plus ou moins de réussite, d’en promouvoir l’utilisation auprès de mes proches, et auprès des autres dès que j’en ai l’opportunité. Du fait de cette inclination pour une certaine philosophie des usages numériques, je me tiens autant que possible éloigné des plateformes commerciales dont l’activité exige qu’elles siphonnent sans retenue aucune les données personnelles de leurs utilisat⋅eur⋅ice⋅s. Je n’ai pas de comptes chez META, X, TikTok ou autres.
Sauf que.
Je m’apprête à lancer une activité professionnelle à mon compte, et que, dans ce cadre, pour pouvoir gagner ma vie, il va me falloir trouver des clients. Et donc me faire connaître. Sachant que cette activité professionnelle, que je veux pleine de sens et en accord avec mes convictions, sera notamment tournée, au moins en partie, vers le logiciel libre. Problème: où trouve-t-on le plus facilement Les Gens®, de nos jours? Quels sont les lieux où on est supposé communiquer le plus efficacement aujourd’hui? Les réseaux sociaux. Et pas ceux que je porte dans mon cœur.
Bref, la question à laquelle je n’arrive pas à trouver de réponse par moi-même est la suivante: dois-je ou non mettre de côté mes réticences et ouvrir des comptes sur ces plateformes qui m’ont toujours répugné, au nom de l’exigence de succès de mon projet, lequel est, c’est important le rappeler, supposé être ma principale source de revenus, cette dernière étant hélas indispensable pour assurer le gîte et le couvert à ma famille?

I tend to listen to my gut. It's not always right, but it usually is. And right now it's telling me that I could disappear from Mastodon at any moment. So I think it's getting a little more urgent for me to find a second account. I'm looking at the list of servers online, and the descriptions are helpful. But they aren't necessarily giving me the full picture. Don't know if anyone is able to help, but I'd like to hear suggestions for new servers - assuming that my posts here are still visible to others.
Sorry, but I've lived with censorship and shadowbanning for decades now. Maybe that has made me paranoid, but maybe it hasn't. I've had a good time here, and I hope to stay; but I should have remembered that it's never wise to keep all your eggs in one basket.
By the way, is there any good way to automatically post to more than one Mastodon account at a time? I think I asked that before, but I can't find the answer. Thanks!

Il y a quelques années, je faisais des sushis et des makis, à l’européenne, hein, je ne prétends pas c’était les mêmes qu’au Japon, mais bon, je ne m’en sortais pas trop mal. Et cette semaine, je me suis dit que j’aimerais bien en refaire. Sauf que, entretemps, j’ai eu le temps de m’informer sur l’industrie du saumon d’élevage et de la catastrophe écologique qu’elle peut représenter. Je suis donc à la recherche d’alternatives, et j’en appelle donc à la sagesse du fediverse pour me renseigner. Si vous avez des idées, végé ou pas, je suis preneur!

My youngest brother is 10 years my junior at 25 and an army veteran. Both our parents were working long hours and away from home, my dad for about 40 weeks out of the year. I was parentified and my brother's caregiver until I moved away for college. For context, he currently lives rent free in my parents' basement as he saves for a home down payment.
When asked to join the #NoKings protest this Saturday, he said that we needed to respect his decision not to go. When questioned he doubled down. The ensuing conversation had a lot of deniability on his part around: the state of the nation, the importance of peaceful protest under the first amendment, and importance of showing solidarity for those not sheltered by privilege.
I don't want to give up on him. Any ideas or suggestions?

Do I buy a slow 1TB SATA III SSD for my 10-year-old desktop for it?
Or should I buy a fast NVMe one + PCIe 2.0 adapter (No DXE = bootloader/UEFI hack)?
Or should I shill for a new machine with a powerful CPU, tons of memory, and blazing fast SSDs?
