Earlier this year, the polling aggregator 538 dropped #Rasmussen Reports from its averages & forecasts, saying that the firm couldn’t meet 538’s standards for #objectivity & methodology. This drew a major backlash from #RightWing #media, especially after Rasmussen published a letter from 538 asking the #polling firm questions about its procedures & biases.

Newly Surfaced Recording Reveals ALEC and GOP Election Attorneys Working with State Legislators to Question Validity of Election

American Legislative Exchange Council (#ALEC) CEO #LisaNelson told a room full of conservative activists that ALEC had been working with three GOP attorneys on “action items that legislators can take to question the validity of an election.”
The comments were made during a strategy session about elections at the Council for National Policy.
Nelson told the group, “obviously we all want President Trump to win and win the national vote. But it's very clear from all the comments and all the suggestions up front that really when it comes down to is the states and the state legislators.”
She added that they’ve been working with Former #FEC Member and #HeritageFoundation attorney #HansVonSpoksky, former Federal Election Commission member #BradSmith, and GOP attorney #CletaMitchell “trying to identify what are those action items that legislators can take in their states.”
“They can write a letter to the secretary of state questioning the validity of an election and saying what did happen that night,” Nelson said.
“So we are drafting a lot of those things. If you have ideas in that area, let us know and we'll get those to the state legislators and they can start to kind of exercise their political muscle in that area"

The Federal Election Commission has allowed committees to not itemize subvendor payments when those payments are an extension of the original vendor’s work.
But in recent years, this interpretation of the law has widened into a gaping #loophole that campaigns are exploiting.
Experts say it is illegal for campaigns to pay campaign staff members through #limited #liability companies, or for vendors to serve merely as #conduits to hide the ultimate recipient of campaign money.
In recent years, the #FEC., whose six commissioners are #deadlocked between the parties three to three, has essentially allowed campaigns to get away with minimal disclosures.
