  1. PHP TIL: The 'opcache_enabled' (true/false) property in PHP's opcache_get_status() function does not refer to the enabled status of the opcache ... instead it refers to the status of the shm_cache, because what else. (;´༎ຶٹ༎ຶ`)

In other news: It's my pleasure to announce #feber 1.4.1! :D

Thanks to Clemens Lenhart for catching the regression (note that it affects only some environments), and to the pros at github.com/php/php-src/issues/ for demystifying the wonders of PHP for laypeople like me. o/

  2. Important update for all Feber¹ calendar users:

Version 1.3.1 patches two critical security issues (and introduces additional tightening of some security-related settings) – the update is already available through Yunohost and from the website, and I strongly recommend updating!

A big thank you to 0ffheal, who found and responsibly disclosed these issues to me (with a fantastically detailed report, I might add)! ٩(◕‿◕。)۶

Additionally, if you're updating from the website (or in a few days from Yunohost), you'll also get version 1.4.1 already – notably including an extended system requirements check/wizard, and a badge that informs users of the available date range during event creation (see screenshot).

Additional thanks go to @sorenpeter and owlpower for 1.4.0 feature intel, Clemens Lenhart for 1.4.0 regression intel and testing, as well as Amir Abdelhedi for a timely review & merge of the critical 1.3.1 security patch on Yunohost. Thank you so much everyone! <3

¹ Feber is a simple, self-hostable group calendar I released in 2024: simonrepp.com/feber/ – It is mostly done but I still have a smol roadmap that I'm working on whenever I find some free time for it •ᴗ•

    #feber

  3. @freebliss In #feber, how did you get the demo to allow public viewing without the odd login key? We'd like to use feber for a public calendar of group events that chosen people can edit, but some folks are unhappy with the un-memorable URL GET parameter for anonymous viewers.

Wie sieht dein Usecase genau aus? Wenn Personen eine Ressource buchen sollen, dann geht das mit #Feber von @freebliss Die Rechnung müsstest du anderswo schreiben.

  6. Minirelease for Feber (a simple, self-hostable, portable group calendar): 1.3.0 \o/

Although #feber does not support multiple calendars per installation, it can easily be installed multiple times under a single domain (simply copy the installation files into multiple subdirectories), and this release is all about officially supporting this by isolating the (php) sessions across different calendars (which previously was not the case). Many thanks to Thom for communicating this usecase and issue to me!

Also included in this release are some tweaks and use of gender neutral language ("account" rather than "user") for the french translations (thank you @CyberSaloperie!), which I'd like to extend to the other locales (and internal translation keys etc.) when I finally get to it. :)

  7. @StephanMatthiesen

  9. Another day, another #feber release \o/, today a big shout-out to @atomkarinca for contributing turkish translations - very awesome!

    ( ^^)人(^^ )

Get the release at simonrepp.com/feber/ or as a YunoHost app: apps.yunohost.org/app/feber (for the latter might take a little bit for the latest release to be picked up still!)

  10. Super happy to report that two people followed up fast with my call for translations yesterday \o/ so besides german/english now we have the #feber calendar also available in:

    Danish - translated by @decibyte

    French - translated by @sknob

Cheers and thanks so much for the contributions! ⸜(*ˊᗜˋ*)⸝

All of this was just earlier released with version 1.2.3, downloadable as always at simonrepp.com/feber/ or directly from the repository at codeberg: codeberg.org/simonrepp/feber

  11. Feber 1.2.0¹ is out \o/ - A simple, self-hostable group calendar ... that is now also localized! (with german translations included in this release as first addition²)

What else is new: If you run feber on a server that does not fulfill the system requirements (which is rather unlikely :)) you now get a dialog that tells you exactly what needs to be installed/updated/enabled, the anonymous editing/viewing/ical links now get generated with the correct protocol (http/https, dynamically) and some free text fields now have autocomplete deactivated where it didn't make any sense.

To check out #feber (documentation, downloads, demo, video guide, etc.) go to: simonrepp.com/feber/

¹ 1.2.1 too actually, because I found a tiny display bug while writing the release post :)

² Call for contributions: If you want to help out by submitting further translations, this can be done with about 1 hour of effort (updated b/c I earlier underestimated this). Copy the highlighted lines here to your text editor - codeberg.org/simonrepp/feber/s - translate the words/phrases/sentences that are on the right side of each line (after "=>") and send the outcome to me whichever way you prefer (DM, email, PR, ...). Don't worry about breaking anything if you're unfamiliar with coding, I'll happily do a check and cleanup of what you send me! \ʕ◕ᴥ◕\ʔ

  12. I just released Feber 1.1.3! (that's "a simple, self-hostable group calendar", see simonrepp.com/feber)

This patch mainly solves a security-related oversight from feber's first days - if you share your calendar with a public audience, or use it to organize highly private or secret things, I recommend updating timely, otherwise just whenever you get to it - the impact of the issue is rather limited.

Also, did you know that #feber is available as a Yunohost app? Eric Gaspar made this happen (with support from @CyberSaloperie and Alexandre Aubin) - many thanks! \o/

Also, I might do a smaller feature release these next days too, let's see if time permits. ( ^◡^)

  13. Small #feber update: I added ics/ical support (i.e. subscribing to the the calendar via a link to a dynamic ics/ical endpoint) today and released it as 1.1.0. Yaayy ⸜(*ˊᗜˋ*)⸝ /cc @rra @dosch

  14. FLOSS news! (ノ´ヮ`)ノ*: ・゚

This is the initial 1.0.0 release of Feber - a simple, self-hostable group calendar.

Originally just a two-day hack for for a friend ('s shared rehearsal room), a few more weeks of work turned this into a universally usable, polished tool - hopefully of use to a wider public.

The short pitch: A single PHP file (+assets) that is compatible with virtually every standard webhost out there, and a database-free design which means setup, backup and transfer is just copying files from one computer/server to another. The interface is responsive, adaptive (dark/light), and built with accessibility (and intent to improve) in mind.

As I am by now maintainer of more FLOSS projects than I can reasonably look after in a sustainable fashion while just running on my commitment and love for the cause, this time around I've included a possibility to financially support the project. Emphasis on this being optional - Feber is AGPL3+, free to share with anyone, you can pay for it if and as you wish.

Thanks for reading/sharing, enjoy #feber and ping me if there are issues with anything (feber itself, the website, the demo, ...), I'm sure I've messed something up along the way. :)

    Det har varit känslosamt.
