Finally found the secrets of #FeaturedHashtags

I've seen that setting for ages and couldn't tell what it does.

You must be viewing the page as an unauthenticated user

You must be viewing the page on a larger screen or in landscape view.

Even then, if you don’t have your browser window stretched out past 1180px width - it is hidden.

Even if you get this far, if you have the advanced web interface enabled, it doesn’t show.

I face the same problem. However, I recently realized that the pattern for the url, (concerning featured hashtags e.g. in mastodon.social for tag #music) , is https://mastodon.social/@profilename/tagged/music. When I enter this url (with my profile name, instead of profilename) it shows all of my toots that have the tag #music. I am thinking about pinning a toot that has all of my featured hashtags, as an alternative solution, in order for all of them to be displayed.

I do not really like to request improvements concerning FOSS software, as I am not a developer and I am not contributing code: rather I feel that I should just be grateful for what I am getting. Anyway I am going to break my rules for once.

One has 10 featured hashtags on mastodon and I was heavily relying on them. In the latest versions of the software the hashtags that are being made visible are just three and I would really appreciate getting all of them back.

Did you know you have the option to include #FeaturedHashtags on your #Mastodon profile? The @icecubesapp is currently the only app I’ve found that displays them. It also provides an excellent example of how to implement them.

I'm so confused! There's a place in my bio to set "featured hashtags" and the docs say "Once featured, a link to the hashtag will be shown on your profile, with the date of the last time it was used in a status, as well as the total number of statuses in which it was used."

But WHERE on my profile? I can't find a profile view in the web interface that shows these links. Can somebody share a screenshot? Am I just blind?

Is there a handful of #Hashtags that you like to post about? Do you want people to be able to easily see your posts about these when they look at your profile?
Then #FeaturedHashtags are the thing to use instead of just posting them in your #bio.

This allows people visiting your profile to filter your posts for some of your most commonly used tags. Great for getting to know you better before following you.

It's hard to choose what to place in #FeaturedHashtags, with a limit of 10. Too many competing interests and identities. I expect I'll keep changing them over time.

Here's my current list:
1. #iNaturalist
2. #Photography
3. #Flickr
4. #Queer
5. #Gay
6. #Insects
7. #Bees
8. #Botany
9. #Brooklyn

Some thoughts:
* I wonder if 3 is needed if 2 is present.
* I'm most likely to change 4&5 in the future, as I learn more about which #Hashtags are preferred.
* I like 6, but I love 7! 😃
