What is your favorite work/series/art/etc that starts with the letter "D"?
Also include why you like it!

@ami_angelwings The six-part _Codex Alera_ grew from someone publicly daring Jim Butcher that he couldn't make a good story from two lame ideas: the lost Roman legion and Pokémon. I found it more enjoyable than his _Dresden Files_ (and really want to see a streaming series based on it). One of the settings of my game _Convocation Prime_ is a bit of a homage to _Codex Alera_ (with some _Dinotopia_ thrown in).

@ami_angelwings The six-part _Codex Alera_ grew from someone publicly daring Jim Butcher that he couldn't make a good story from two lame ideas: the lost Roman legion and Pokémon. I found it more enjoyable than his _Dresden Files_ (and really want to see a streaming series based on it). It's probably on my top 3 movie list of all time. When it came out, it was billed as THE grunge rock movie. So many classic lines. "You can't come back, this is the really real world." "'I feel like a little worm on a big fuckin hook.' Boy, your momma must be real proud of you." And the rooftop guitar scene!

Crazy Taxi. The style, the speed, the soundtrack, the pure late '90s/cusp of the '00s of it all. Was the first game* I played where fighting to stay in the game was the point. I was hooked immediately. The fact CT never got an animated sitcom is baffling to me, and I had the privilege of correcting this grievous error in comic strip form with art by @Morg, who went above and beyond to totally nail it. -

I have decided to change my #FavWorkC. I do love Capcom vs SNK 2, but City of Heroes is my favourite work that starts with C.
It has a lot of flaws, it's very dated now, but it still has one of the greatest character creators I've ever used, and the playerbase is so creative with it. No two heroes look the same. And you start off looking however you want, you're not limited in any way based on your powers or class.
It's such a great superhero experience to immediately start off in a world where everybody looks different & you're not all wearing level 1 armor. The community is wonderful, the game is back and controlled by fans.
And CoH has personal meaning to me b/c it was instrumental in me discovering who I am & being treated as myself for the first time. <3

For the longest time I was told this was the best movie ever made and I believed it for decades. I don't anymore, but none of the movies I believe are better have a C title. So by default and for a number of original and unique techniques my #FavWorkAtoZ for #FavWorkC is Citizen Kane.

For today's letter "C", I will go with #Castlevania . Since I was a kid with an 8-bit Nintendo console, I was (and still) amazed with the lore in the bootleg and how the authors developed the current franchise just starting with the art on the box, some animated graphics, dialogs between bosses and ending sequences.
Today it has its own style and turned into a legend!

@ami_angelwings For #FavWorkC I'm going with a genuine classic, but not of fiction. It's the "Connections" television series created & hosted by James Burke, a science program host ("presenter").
In that series and sequels (especially the superb "The Day The Universe Changed") Burke points out the fully interconnected nature of all history, be it scientific or otherwise. He plays a bit fast/loose with factual accuracy in service of a compelling narrative, but I can forgive that.

My #FavWorkC is Capcom vs SNK 2, and throw in EO for extra fun because it was ahead of its time in allowing non-fighting game players to play with their experienced friends and even outclass them since you can do any move with a flick of the C stick. Also means you can train against a player with the ability to do moves like a computer.
But yes, to me it is the perfect fighting game. Great cast of characters, great mechanics, love the different grooves and the strengths of weaknesses of each. Limited music and stages but the music is so good. Just a great fighting game.

@ami_angelwings Cybersix. A show about an android who by day presents as male and works as a teacher, and by night thwarts the evil organisation that created her. I loved this cartoon as a child. The whole style just really appeals to me, and plenty of butt-kicking and explosions too. Some day I need to read the comic it’s based on.
