Today's #therapist session went like this...

'So the #abolitionist #activism circles; these spaces have been weird to navigate. We don't talk too much about ourselves. Like we are "friends" (we hope) but we don't know shit about one another. And that's weird. We don't know each other's #favoritemusic, food, where we were born, what schools we went to, our hopes, our dreams in full. We just show up every single day to fight the same #boogeyman and hope each one of us shows up. And we do this with intent for #opsec reasons because when one of us gets taken by the #ICE #nazis we don't want to have much to tell the #gestapo about our #comrades.'

And then I realized that was one of the most #fuckedup things I've said about my life in a long time and had to pause and talk to the therapist about that, as well. #uspol #2025 #fuckice #fucktrump #ihopemagagetsstage500bonecancerandhasagnonizingburningpainandaslowdeath

Birthday Music – DrWeb

Well, I realized the other day, lots of reflection at birthday tie, that I don’t know my favorite music, or songs. I have favorites, a few noted here today, and final one listed for the world we will survive right now. These are in no particular order, just a few favorites!

I hope you enjoy, celebrate your music, share it with others! To me, it’s a part of who you are… –DrWeb

The Pink Floyd music takes me away, and this performance sets a tone for a place you can be, and how to be okay there. Numb is perhaps a shield, while you endure or recover or gather strength. Comfortable is a waystation, catch your breath, go on…

Sometimes, in a dream, I see this song, and there’s a starship, Jefferson Starship maybe, and I climb aboard, and carry on, Humanity to the Stars… There’s the young and old versions of this one. Above is the older one, below is the new one. Enjoy, I’ve got to be free, free to chase the life that’s ahead of me…

This one always makes me happy. Optimistic. Ready for the Future… We’ll try, best as we can, from the heart, Carry On!!

Boston has so many great hit, but this one gets me, when I listen..
So many people have come and gone
Their faces fade as the years go by
Yet I still recall as I wander on
As clear as the sun in the summer sky

When I’m tired and thinking cold
I hide in my music, forget the day
And dream of a girl I used to know
I closed my eyes and she slipped away
She slipped away…

Alan Parsons, and Project, are amazing. This is my favorite video of their performance of this hit. “I can read your mind..” Metaphysical music…

I am the eye in the sky
Looking at you
I can read your mind
I am the maker of rules
Dealing with fools
I can cheat you blind
And I don’t need to see anymore to know that
I can read your mind (Looking at you)
I can read your mind (Looking at you)
I can read your mind (Looking at you)
I can read your mind

I cry watching. Not sure why. The aging band, hearing their magic music, in this environment, Obama, Michelle, Kennedy Center — and the finale, the surprise, the joy, I am overwhelmed with spirit and joy. This band made music. For us. Their music will live on… may our children, grandchildren, and their children, enjoy for centuries! Your stairway lies on the whispering wind…

And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last
When all are one, and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll
And she’s buying a stairway to Heaven

Never much of a sailor, but the oceans, the sea, lakes, water –special to me. Somehow.

(I think about)
Think about how many times I have fallen
Spirits are using me, larger voices calling
What heaven brought you and me
Cannot be forgotten (I’ve been around the world)

G-Nitro's 50 Favorite Albums of 2024

Here are my 50 favorite albums from 2024.

I saw a lot of others talking about doing a list of 50 albums, so I decided why not. I utilized Songlink embeds to help folks find the platform of their choice to listen to the albums.

I also included a Spotify Playlist embed with all the albums in one place.

John Prine was a brilliant song-writer and Bonnie Raitt is, well...beyond words.

This is one of my top 5 favorite songs. I was just listening and thought I'd share. Happy Saturday!😀

"If dreams were thunder
And lightning was desire
This old house would've burnt down
A long time ago."

So I got to thinking a not too original thought of what records I’d choose if I were the last person on earth and I only had eight. Yes, this is a lot like Desert Island Discs. Probably too close for comfort as I plan to interview friends and post the results as blog entries/play lists. My own #L8ROE is here (with a giveaway as to one of them):

Did you get access to a very nice speaker? Want to find good music to blast at full volume and enjoy that sound quality?

Here's a playlist my husband and I made just for these types of occasions. Feel free to shuffle or pick at random.

I apologize in advance for the randomness of our music taste:

#FavoriteMusic of the day. Tank and the Bangas are an absolute experience. Each song takes on a whole different perspective depending on the recording. Here's the performance that introduced me to these artists. Keep the flow going by checking out "No ID", "Black Folk" and "Walmart" to name a few.
