  1. So y'all know that the #MassDeportations and the proposed #Medicare and #Medicaid "work requirements" are hand in glove, right? When all of the migrant workers are rounded up into deportation camps, who is going to be pressed in service in kitchens, hotel housekeeping, #FarmLabor, and slaughterhouses? All of those people who need #HealthCare, of course.
"Hey grandma, you want healthcare? You don't look too sick, get in there and milk them cows. Turn them beds.".

  5. ""All hands on deck" for Idaho's annual potato harvest" as @CBSNews plugs HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT #FARMLABOR.

Dunno about I-Da-Ho, but California's #agriculture #laborlaws allow 12hr a day work, 7 days a week, until the harvest is finished. These TEENS DO NOT EVEN REMOTELY know farm #labor.

The local UC tried getting students to work the Pajaro Valley Lettuce/Berry harvest one year. Got 3 students. All quit within 2 days, if I recall the 1990s correctly. Pay for workers in the fields was min wage.

  6. Wow, it looks like we may actually be starting a local farm labor collective this season! The trick will be to find non-farm organizations to pay 1/2 of the labor costs, as a way of supporting local farm production. (These farmers can't afford to pay a living wage, and we can't afford to work for less.) Hoping for support from the Rocky Mountain Farmers Union.

An excellent resource (more business-cooperativism oriented than I like, but still excellent): rmfu.org/wp-content/uploads/Fa
