OK Googly gals and guyz,
It is well past my #breakfast time. Gotta see wot is in the cupboard. I might 'ave some of that qood quality #hamster food (aka #Muesli, no sugar or salt - sweetened with dried fruit)
Maybe a couple of eggs over easy as they say in #USA (Universal Sexist Ape-men). In the #UK they are #factory #farmed. Sorry chicks. With lions printed on them. That's right #Lion eggs. Delish with baked beans...
Oh wait have some home made #sourdough bread. That sounds good with tahini, Forest #honey and coffee...
Decisions. Decisions. Will make them whilst I still can-can...

#Farmed production of some #fish—and #seaweed—is soaring
According to the #UN's Food and Agriculture Organization (#FAO), nearly 99 million tonnes of aquatic animals (fish, mollusks like oysters and mussels and crustaceans like prawns) were farmed around the world in 2023, five times more than three decades ago.
Since 2022, the farming of aquatic animals has been steadily overtaking #fishing around the world—but with large disparities from species to species.

1.8 million #farmed #birds have been #culled in #UK as part of #birdflu precautions, and restriction zones exist in several areas (there are 20 million farmed birds produced every week, about a third of the human population)
As yet it has not affected the price of #eggs or #poultry or caused major disruption even in rural areas (there are less warning signs and checkpoints around than in the previous outbreaks)

As chronic wasting #disease (#CWD ) ravaged #deer populations across the country in recent years, studies have primarily focused on how CWD can jump from #farmed #herds to wild deer, with little attention given to how transmission may occur from wild deer to those living on #farms.

'This is the #dichotomy we have between what people write about the things #Indigenous people have done on the landscape vs sensible reasons for why it was done,” said Benoit, whose heritage is #RedRiver #Michif (#Métis ). “Through #OralTradition, we knew that there were good #ecological and #food -related reasons to do these things.”
