  1. Last day of the Steam Ukrainian Games Festival 2023.

Lots of games on sale, lots of new stuff to check out.

Aside from the big names like Stalker and Metro, a couple of my favourites from the games I've played (both play absolutely fine on Linux):

    Ostriv
A calm, mellow town builder. Reminds me a lot of the original Settlers. A game that understand the joy of watching your little people actually build their little houses; rather than stand there hammering as the walls and roof magically rise from the ground, your people bring beams, erect the beams into place, construct walls, etc. All the buildings are unique, so everyone gets their own little house. The quoted post below has a few screenshots.

Edit to add: I completely forgot to make this post a quote. Here was my post on Mastodon I planned to quote:
    https://mas.to/@picard/110129617459697107 🤦‍♂️😴

    Sherlock Holmes Chapter One
A great detective game. With all the aids turned off, it can really feel like you're having to investigate crime scenes to look for clues and figure out what happened (rather than just following pointers). Probably the best narrative detective game I've played. Not played the sequel The Awakened yet, but heard good things about it too.

And a few others I'm looking forward to checking out:

    Erra: Exordium
Played a bit of the demo, really love the atmosphere and vibe of this one - feels unique. One of the developers is on Mastodon and regularly writes about the development:
    @[email protected]

    Bosorka
Looks visually very beautiful, and been recommended to me as worth playing - always have room for some action-type games with interesting aesthetics.

    Farlanders
Loved the demo on this - an unusual turn-based Martian colony builder. Has some interesting mechanics that make positioning of buildings to generate adjacency bonuses a key consideration.

    Boxville
Looks like a whimsical point-and-click puzzle adventure game about a couple of tin cans. Do feel like I need some more light-hearted games in my life these days!

Obviously a load more games on the sale worthy of mention, but not enough space to write about everything I added to my wishlist. Just felt like writing a few words about some of them!
