Finally watched the #FantasticFourFirstSteps movie on Disney+ and … I may be in the minority, but I found it really bland and the never-ending soundtrack didn’t help. The acting was subdued and not much character development among the lead characters. Also, the CGI didn’t look good to me and there was a lot of it. Watched #FantasticFour again, because we're in Stockholm and we want to watch something in the huge cinema at Mall of Scandinavia.
Still a great movie!
I read and watched a lot of the criticisms after the first time around, and I had them at the back of my head when I watched again. Was the Sue - Moleman chemistry underdeveloped? Was Johnny's linguistics project too out of the blue and its effect too sudden? Was the pacing uneven? Was Julia Garner underutilized? Was Galactus's "clever bugs" comment to silly for its moment?
Nope. Nope. Nope. Well, yeah, but it's a Fantastic Four movie, not a Silver Surfer movie. Nope.
The story might be a bit too linear and rose-tinted for some people, the resolution might be too easy, and swaying the world public from utilitarian ethics to care ethics and virtue ethics with a rousing speech waay to easy. That's a matter of taste. But the craft of the delivery? Storytelling, sound design, visual design, acting ... you can't be fair and call it anything other than rock solid.
The score, my stars, the score. So good and so well used.

I saw #FantasticFourFirstSteps the other day and I have to say that it felt so refreshing. It was like Phase 1 #MCU where you didn’t need homework or previous films. It was just great and the characters were solid from the outset. You didn’t even need to stay for the mid/post-credits (it was cool, you should) to get the full experience. Some of #Marvel’s best work in a long time.

Post-work outting with chums to catch the new #FantasticFour film, which was that somewhat rare beast these days: a fun, enjoyable Marvel flick (they seem to have lost the knack in recent years).
Sticking with the retro futuristic 1960s era helped a lot, I think. Not genius, but a good, fun, popcorn flick.

CW: Fantastic Four
Der Abschlusswitz des Films war ein Einbauproblem mit einem Babysitz in einem Auto, welches bislang absolut keine Probleme hatte, mit geöffneten Türen loszufliegen. Das ist so das Level von Humor in dem Film. Und Konsistenz.
Ich möchte auch gar nicht so viel motzen 🙂. Ich schaue den Film erneut in den kommenden Tagen (dann auf Deutsch) und werde den Film dank runter gesetzter Erwartungshaltung sicherlich etwas besser finden. War bei Superman auch so.

Es de lo mejor de #Marvel que ha tenido últimamente (el listón estaba bastante bajo) y el hecho de que es una película que se puede ver sin conocer nada de su universo y sin tener que haber visto absolutamente ninguna otra serie o película, es una gran baza a favor. #PedroPascal está “fantástico” (je!) pero la que más se luce es #SueStorm (#VanessaKirby ) por delante de todos. De hecho La Cosa es la más desaprovechada.
Se nota que, al contrario de otras #películas del #MCU que parecen escenas sueltas cosidas como retales en el montaje, esta tiene un guion más claro desde el principio que le da más cohesión al conjunto. Estás toda la #película pensando: ¿Y ahora qué? 😱
