A little friend (a Fantail) mid-cheep as it looks up into its tree. Fantails are usually relatively unafraid of humans so it's not hard to get close to them - it's just hard to get them to stay still long enough to get piccies...

Hi there good looking.
This tīrairaka (South Island fantail) looked down, looked left, looked right, then looked straight at me.
Meep! Meep!
I found it hanging out with a friend in Purau Reserve. That's a forested suburban reserve in Ōtautahi-Christchurch, NZ. Small suburban reserves with native trees are where I most often see our native forest birds in the city.

#2: A black fantail in the Christchurch Port Hills. They're always a treat to see and this time I got photos!

This pīwakawaka visitation thing is getting out of hand. I had my doors and windows open this morning and two of them flew through the house and into my lounge. They danced little circles around my head as I opened the sliding door.
As one left via the front door, the other one shot through the house and out the back door.
I feel like they're playing with me.

Here's my favourite moment from today. I was out for my weekly wildcounts run and had stopped to hunch down on the grass to photograph a mushroom, when this inquisitive little fantail landed right in front of my camera.

A pīwakawaka (fantail) graced me with its presence when I went out to the compost bin today. It flitted around the bin, possibly hunting little bugs stirred up on the compost. This is the only picture I managed to get of it. I also got several pictures of where the pīwakawaka had been a fraction of a second ago. 😂

I tried to photograph a very active Grey #Fantail at #Jerrabomberra yesterday evening. Only one shot was in focus, but I like how it showcases their boundless energy.

Spent the day out on the Royal mail boat cruise out to #KawauIsland. Saw my first #FanTail of the trip! They weren’t chatty but they were super cute! And some peacocks!
