Just found out that my article “Diving into the Depths: Exploring Interpersonal Relationships in Mermaid Fanfiction” has now been published online in The Journal of Fandom Studies. 🧜♀️📚
The article explores friendship, chosen family and interpersonal relationships in mermaid fanfiction, and forms part of my PhD research.
What I value most is the opportunity to research subjects that genuinely fascinate me!

This is the case here. AUs fanfic writers take characters or plots from other works to then create their own narrative. There are a lot of subcategories for AUs : time travel, college/university, canon divergence...
