  1. My PC's fans are currently really loud as #FanControl has triggered #WindowsDefender. Either fan control has been hacked or Windows Defender is shit and is falsely detecting the software as malware.

  2. Windows defender now detects #FanControl, well regarded Windows application, as malicious. While Fan Control isn't malicious per se, since it uses #WinRing0 driver, it will allow any user level app to gain privileged access to the system as NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. Fan Control needs to find a way to access the registers by other means.

  3. Over all extremely happy with the #Nvidia5080FE. Stunning design (for my taste), super silent both under load and also idling (quieter than my 7900GRE) and superbe performance in my UWQHD Setup. Perfect Match. Feared the 30 min fan speed (roughly 1000rpm) of both fans would be problematic - it’s not. Also #Fancontrol is able to individually control each fan. #nvidia #gpu #gaming #5080FE

  5. 🎉 Breaking News: ASUS laptops come with a super-secret button to crank up the fan from "kitten purr" to "747 takeoff." 🚀 But don't get too excited, #OpenBSD users—time to write your own driver! Because who needs convenience when you can DIY your cooling system? 🙄💻

  6. @patrickrusch #Fancontrol. Best software out there. Nothing it can’t do can-wise. Forget on-board crap from vendors.

  7. If your Windows PC has fans (it probably does) then this is the best FLOSS package for controlling and monitoring them:

    getfancontrol.com/

It's fully featured for monitoring temperatures and fan speeds (given they are PWM fans).

There are plugins available for various third-party fan controllers and apps including HWInfo and GPU-Z to allow monitoring for hardware not directly supported 🙂

Third-party applications are generally the most effective solution as they have easy-to-use interfaces and allow you to set individual profiles for all your fans. Fan Control is one such open-source app that offers plenty of customizability to control your cabinet, GPU, and CPU fans, making it the perfect cooling management tool for beginners and experts alike.

This article will go over the process of setting up Fan Control to help you create the perfect fan profile for your system.
